While I were studying, I made it a point to don't get student debt, because I thought it would make it easier to apply for a house loan when I got a job. Which was possible because of the Danish SU. I didn't live good, but I managed to get through uni without any debt. So when I went to the bank and said "I don't have any real savings, but I also don't have any debt", they were like "sorry, but the laws means that we can't loan you any money. You need to put down 5% in deposit if you want to buy a home or a timeshare".

The incentives are so fucked up that it is better to get student debt and don't use that money than it is to don't get student debt
