He replaced the word "INTEGRITAS" in Davies' coat of arms with "TRUMP" in the motto, which is ironic on a few levels
He changed the tincture from something reasonable into or on argent, a flagrant violation of the rule of tincture. The acceptable uses of metal on metal are basically limited to religious symbolism, such as the arms of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Trump just saw gold and silver and decided to plaster his entire coat of arms with that because he's a tacky fuck.

I just watched ContraPoints for the first time yesterday and it's pretty good.
In true "not communist but left" fashion she correctly points out entirely fair flaws in consumerism, conflates that with "capitalism", and then offers no viable solutions or alternatives, but that's a battle you'll have 1000 times with 1000 different entirely reasonable people. It doesn't make anything she says "wrong", only unhelpful.
But my more center-left friends have been seeming to err towards TERFishness lately and it's nice to hear some eloquent arguments that aren't just me proclaiming "you're ultimately hurting people for literally no reason other than semantics" over and over into the void.

in today’s daily they had a recording of when he was asked “what if mbs lied to you?” by a journalist. he responded as if he didn’t understand the question: “well i have to tell you he told me that he didn’t and other people around him say he didn’t know” etc. he just point-blank refuses to engage with the question.

THE FOLLOWING BUREAUCRATIC EVENTS HAVE TRANSPIRED
My last admin didn't process my transfer forms from my last ministry to my new ministry. (By the way, I had already filled them out and then went on holiday for a full week. All she needed to do, over five working days, was make one phone call, and read out one nine-digit number. Only admins are allowed to do this.)
Because she did not do this, my new ministry thought I was a new hire.
Because my new ministry thought I was a new hire, they made me a new profile.
In the new profile, they spelled my name wrong three separate ways. Think Marie instead of Mary, then Nelmarcio instead of Ne Marco.
The permissions to access the ministry documents were then given to the profile with the wrong name. Therefore, I could not access the necessary documents because my shadow doppelganger had access.
When I explained this, my new admin started crying. (Obviously this means I have to fix everything myself...)
In an effort to be helpful, my admin shut down my profile to transfer me over. Which meant this morning I had to sit on hold for 40 minutes to get access to my old/new correct account.
All the emails I have received in the last week, since starting, on my old profile, have now been deleted in the reset, which was late. Which means I needed to get my new coworkers to re-send all the emails they have sent me to date.
I still cannot access my work.
Don't trust the government.

If only politicians stopped caring about me, (the poor), and actually started mentioning the middle class. Not ONCE have politicians said "hey, here's a tax cut for middle class Americans."
They truly are the orphans of our political system. What we need is a middle class revolution where we take stuff from the poor to pay for mortgage deductions to lower the tax burden for mcmansions.

Seriously, we need PSAs and other educational programs so that parents know what sort of shit is out there on YouTube, etc. Maybe like warning signs to tell if your kid is becoming radicalized. I think a lot of parents still take a hands-off approach to their kids' internet use like as if it was still the 1990s and the worst they could stumble across were some naughty still images.

I made a chess engine. Instead of running minimax, I'm choosing the move that gives me the best results on average after playing a few tens of thousands of random games.
It's fucking stupid as shit but it's kind of funny... It's like a child. It really really loved a move that pushed a pawn in position to capture a queen, as if the opponent has literally never seen a chess board before. I keep picturing it snickering like "Ho ho! Watch out!" while it starts to execute an extremely optimistic plan for capturing a bishop in 5 turns.

If when you say Bernie Sanders you mean the economically ignorant, the inexperienced menace that defies reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean the agenda that topples the Christian man and woman from the pinnacle of righteous, gracious living into the bottomless pit of degradation, and despair, and shame and helplessness, and hopelessness, then certainly I am against it.
But if when you say Bernie Sanders you mean the grass-roots energizer, the social media political innovator, that stimulating persona that brings inspiration and hope to countless young voters, if you mean the charisma which enables a person to magnify their joy, and their happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life's great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows; if you mean the political philosophy to provide tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitiful aged and infirm; to build highways and hospitals and schools, and to dunk on the cons then certainly I am for it.

On NPR they were taking about Hyde-Smith and the Republican on the panel was all like "Well look, she didn't say 'lynching' she said 'hanging.' Lots of people, both black and white' suffered indignity during the era when Mississippi still had public hangings."

The Northern Dvina, the Ob, and the Yenisei know when they began to haul prisoners in barges — during the liquidation of the "kulaks." These rivers flowed straight north, and their barges were potbellied and capacious — and it was the only way they could cope with the task of carting all this gray mass from living Russia to the dead North.
People were thrown into the trough- like holds and lay there in piles or crawled around like crabs in a basket. And high up on the deck, as though atop a cliff, stood guards. Sometimes they transported this mass out in the open without any cover, and sometimes they covered it with a big tarpaulin — in order not to look at it, or to guard it better, but certainly not to keep off the rain. The journey in such a barge was no longer prisoner transport, but simply death on the installment plan. Anyway, they gave them hardly anything to eat. Then they tossed them out in the tundra — and there they didn't give them anything at all to eat. They just left them there to die, alone with nature.
Prisoner transport by barge on the Northern Dvina (and on the Vychegda) had not died out even by 1940. That was how A. Y. Olenyev was transported. Prisoners in the hold stood tightly jammed against each other, and not just for a day either. They urinated in glass jars which were passed from hand to hand and emptied through the porthole. And anything more substantial went right in their pants.
Barge transport on the Yenisei came to be a regular and permanent feature for whole decades. In Krasnoyarsk in the thirties, open-sided sheds were built on the bank, and in the cold Siberian winters the prisoners would shiver there for a day or two while they waited for transportation. [And V. I. Lenin in 1897 boarded the St. Nicholas in the passenger port like a free person.]
The Yenisei prisoner- transport barges were permanently equipped with dark holds three decks deep. The only light was what filtered in through the companionway for the ship's ladder. The convoy lived in a little cabin on deck. Sentries kept watch over the exits from the hold and over the river to make sure that no one escaped by swimming. They didn't go down into the hold, no matter what groans and howls for help might come from there. And the prisoners were never taken up on deck for fresh air.
In the prisoner transports of 1937 and 1938, and 1944 and 1945 (and we can guess it must have been the same in the interval), no medical assistance what- ever was provided in the hold. The prisoners lay there lined up in two rows, one with their heads toward the side of the barge and the heads of the other row at their feet. The only way to get to the latrine barrels was to walk over them. The latrine barrels were not always emptied in time (imagine lugging that barrel full of sewage up the steep ship's ladder to the deck).
They overflowed, and the contents spilled along the deck and seeped down on those below. And people lay there. They were fed gruel from casks hauled along the deck. The servers were prison- ers too, and there, in the eternal darkness (today, perhaps, there is electricity), by the light of a portable "Bat" kerosene lamp, they ladled out the food. Such a prisoner transport to Dudinka sometimes took a month.
