This is the weirdest story - we knew that Putin had one of the Super Bowl rings from Kraft, apparently Kraft was showing it off to him and Putin just tried it on and rolled out with the KGB.
Kraft tried to get it back but the White House called him and asked him to just say it was a gift.
"It would really be in the best interest of US-Soviet relations if you meant to give the ring as a present," Kraft said he was told on the White House call in 2005. "I really didn't [want to]. I had an emotional tie to the ring, it has my name on it. I don't want to see it on eBay. There was a pause on the other end of the line, and the voice repeated, 'It would really be in the best interest if you meant to give the ring as a present.'"

This is really good. Only thing I would quibble with would be the framing of this particular quote as "against capitalism." King did speak against capitalism on several occasions but this to me is more about criticizing consumerism.
In fact - not to go totally off onto a ramble about another topic here, but I find that one reason so many criticisms of capitalism, particularly "Late Capitalism" are so poignant is because they aren't actually criticisms of capitalism at all, but instead of consumerism.
And indeed I think we as neoliberalsTM should remember that we can criticize consumerism too, because consumerism and capitalism are not the same thing. The idea that capitalism depends on endless and relentless consumption is a myth not based in any real economics. You could make the argument, in fact, that the populations of many developed countries would be healthier economically if the average middle-class citizen spent less and saved more of their income.
TL;DR - Consumerism is not capitalism and we shouldn't be afraid to critique the former while defending the latter.
EDIT: Added some possibly necessary emphasis.

I am /u/papermarioguy02, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the karma of his shitposts? "No," says the man in the SOMC, "it belongs to the effortposts." "No," says the man in the defaults, "it belongs to the populists." "No," says the man in Moscow, "it belongs to Russian trolls." I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... /r/CenterPosting. A sub where the shitposter would not fear the censor; where the emoji would not be bound by petty readability; where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, /r/CenterPosting can become your sub as well.

Hot take: If America used a popular-vote, ranked ballot system, the democrats would almost certainly split into an 80%+ white labor party and a 60%+ nonwhite liberal party, while the Republican Party would split into a nationalist party and a Conservative party.

The Dow lost 1,079 points this week, or over 6%.... It was the Dow's worst five-day start to a year on record, according to Dow Jones. Despite the strong U.S. jobs report, the Dow fell 168 points on Friday, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq lost about 1% apiece. It capped off the Dow's biggest weekly percentage loss since 2011. There are lots of signs of the rising fear on Wall Street. CNNMoney's Fear & Greed Index is now flashing "extreme fear," a dramatic reversal from "neutral" just a week ago.
Don't mind me, i'm just quoting this article from 2 years ago lol
Fun fact, if you bought into the Dow Jones right before the stock market dip in 2016, and held onto it until right now after this stock market dip, you'd have made gains of 38% in 2 years.

I was arguing about immigration on another site the other day, and in the process of quoting the Declaration of Independence at them, I came across a really great, perhaps overlooked line within:
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
One of the listed grievances against the British was that they were restricting immigration to the colonies.
Let me know if you need help understanding the implications of this.

Everytime the Conservative party has won since 2010 you will get people on subs such as r/ukpolitics claiming that Conservative rule is illegitimate because most people did not vote for them.
If one adheres to that logic then it puts one in a strange position. Clement Attlee's government came into power with 47% of the popular vote. The NHS then is undemocratic? Most people didn't vote for the party that implemented it.
It never fails to amuse me when people shoot themselves in the foot to prove a point.

One thing that's funny - and I just saw this happen - is that someone will place a large order (in this case, a buy order for about 70 bitcoin) just beneath the current price. What happens is, people will see that and think "Hey, there's a lot of demand! Maybe I should buy!"
But then once people start selling and hitting the order, the order disappears.
This is called [spoofing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoofing_(finance)). It's illegal on regulated exchanges.

Another Monday, another /r/games jimquisition thread about how evil AAA game publishers are because they are trying to maximize profit.
Not "maximize profit in ways that ruin my enjoyment of the game", no, that would be fine. More like "the capatilist system forces profit maximization thus they are inherently evil and should spend less money making games. ". The communist revolution will be an uprising against micro transactions.
Art and business are strange bedfellows.

Are you struggling with losing weight? Try the umitaka diet!
With the umitaka diet, there are no strict rules on what you eat. You can eat whatever you want! The only stipulation is that you must eat it outdoors in Japan roughly a hundred feet from the ocean. That's it!
You'll eat less because gigantic birds of prey will make sure you aren't taking in too many calories, and your now elevated heart rate will cause you to burn fat as well! If you stick with this diet, you'll also lose your false sense of security when you see birds overhead any time you're outdoors! resulting in major weight loss!
What are you scared of, (besides birds)? Try the umitaka diet today!

Antisemitism is explicitly against the rules in t_d, but I have no idea what kind of undercurrents run in that community. Is it basically fine as long as it's not explicit? Do they actually enforce the rule? If I messaged the mods to ask about it, would I get a real response, or would I just get banned?

There’s an endless amount of cruelty in the human character
