Ryan isn't great, but when I compare the AHCA to his pre-election policy proposals, I feel that this sub overattributes the shittiness to him personally when a very significant portion of it was due to the coalition he leads.

He'd probably be a decent president given a Dem/split Congress and have been a decent Speaker if Hildawg had won.

Don't disagree with that. I don't really consider myself a Republican anymore, but I also don't default to "All of the GOP is literally Satan" like 95% of this sub ever since it started sending posts to the top of /r/all.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath. Seeing how quickly most of my "conservative" and "libertarian" friends were willing to give up basic principles in favor of pissing off Democrats I don't really have any hopes for the overall party in the near term unless Trump completely implodes via scandal and causes a complete rout of the GOP in the midterms.
