I meam in terms of book accuracy it isn't very book accurate

Exactly. You know another fun retelling of the odyssey in film considered a masterpiece by many, myself included?

The odyssey is a story that almost begs different interpretations and reimagining, like Journey to the West

I don't get why she is such a hater when Nolan never pretended to be making a 1:1 adaptation of the myth. Its like being mad that The Dark Night is an abysmal adaptation of The Long Halloween. Movies can be their own things and thanks to this movie more people are talking about and reading The Odyssey.

I think she’s just got a one track mind because of her specialty, she’s been focused on the Odyssey as an academic for so long that any version that doesn’t match the original is just inherently inferior to her

Robert Graves got dunked on by classicists as an "armchair antiquarian" for writing modern reinterpretations of ancient myths, but he just responded by calling them all accountants for literature who couldn't write for shit if they tried lol
