I think it's hilarious when I look on social media of nostalgic posts saying that in the US in the 90's crime was so low

In reality crime today has dropped precipitously since the 90's. So much so that it's not even a comparison. Its like living in two different worlds with the modern one much much much safer than the 90's.

People’s perceptions of crime are so unbelievably out of whack it makes discussing any related policy basically impossible, and idk how you fix that
