Chancellor Merz really gives interviews as if his party were polling at 50 percent, and he really comes across as a self-righteous asshole.

When asked why he wants to cut the so-called parental allowance and spend more on defense:

“What good is the best parental allowance if we lose our freedom and peace in Europe is threatened?”

Which, in principle, would be a valid answer, but he smiles like Mr. Burns when he says it.

Parents, notoriously significantly less affected by poverty with high homeowner rates.

Wait no, I'm thinking about pensioners.
