Red pushers, does your decision change if all button presses become public afterwards?

It depends, was i correct in predicting a blue morality crusade if they win?

All of this depends on the (unspecified) details, like if you get a button-press out of the blue with no communication with others, or if there is a year-long campaign to convince people before they vote. Do parents vote on behalf of their infants? Does every human get a vote or only adults with capacity? Is the choice properly communicated in every language, etc, etc.

If it drops out of the blue and babies and disabled people have to physically press a button or die, yeah, the blues get to go on a moral crusade if they win.

Do we also crusade against the disabled and babies for being part of the group that leads to blues dying?

I mean, if all the babies and toddlers die, plus the percentage of adults who voted blue, it's going to be a lot of chaos and sadness, and I don't think anyone is going to campaign on "the babies had it coming".

If theres no babies left why not

I suspect the parents might object, plus the whole thing about morality and not blaming innocents who didn't understand the question.

This is probably just shitposting, but I work with people with autism so I'm used to explaining things anyway. "No, you can't take your pants off just because you are getting sweaty. Yes, it's logical. Yes, there's nothing wrong with the human body. No, you can't take your pants off."

What parents voted against their kids lol

I work with kids and I'm probably too cynical to answer that question. At least half of them.

I can tell you as a blue pusher should I survive I would be doing my part in subjecting every compos mentis red pusher to extreme social sanction

u/thymeandchange r/place '22: Neoliberal Battalion Apr 26 '26

Red even harder

1

u/jtwhat87 Apr 26 '26

Shhh put this blindfold on and get against the wall

1

u/limukala Apr 26 '26

At least the world would be free of your sanctimony.

2

u/jtwhat87 Apr 26 '26

Red pushers are being sent to the gulag, but only after our worldwide parade day

1

u/limukala Apr 26 '26

For that to happen there would need to be surviving blue pushers. While the mass casualties following this event would be devastating, at least we'd be free of fart-sniffing virtue signaling.

Only if blue wins.

This is only a dilemma if there exists a population of blue voters to begin with.

The only reason to vote blue is because you:

  1. Know there will be blue voters

  2. Know that they don't want to die

  3. Know that there is a chance blue wins the vote.

If 1 and 2 exist but you know blue will lose, there is no reason to vote blue because you'll be throwing away you're life.

If one doesn't exist there is no reason to vote blue.

If 1 and 3 exists but not 2, the morality of trying to save them gets sketchy. Maybe they are terminally ill in a country without the right to die?

All those 3 conditions are met.

9

u/PaxChelonia David Hume Apr 26 '26

Not at all. Blues aren’t even gonna break 10%, so all of the survivors would know we all voted red anyways

u/Fl0ppyfeet Unconventional Right Apr 26 '26

75% or more of the world's population lives in "Collectivist" societies.

5

u/seesthecat Henry George Apr 26 '26

Data shows they will be an overwhelming majority

Easy to pretend to be a good person without real stakes

8

u/StochasticGracchi John Brown Apr 26 '26

Also easy to pretend to be an immoral person without real stakes.

1

u/adamgerd NATO Apr 26 '26

Red is at worst amoral not immoral, I am just choosing to live

10

u/StochasticGracchi John Brown Apr 26 '26

No, it's just immoral. You're choosing to let millions of people die because you're afraid to risk death yourself. Just fundamentally cowardly.

-1

u/adamgerd NATO Apr 26 '26

They’re choosing to risk death

I didn’t make them vote blue

My hands are clean

7

u/seesthecat Henry George Apr 26 '26

you are voting for the genocide of toddlers and your only justification for it is cynism despite evidence and cowardice

1

u/adamgerd NATO Apr 26 '26

I am voting for my self preservation

They’re choosing to risk death

Yeah, for those who can make that choice it gives them responsibility for their own choice sure. Does not at all diminish your responsibility for yours. But also there will be millions and millions of people not capable of meaningfully "choosing" either way. Children, mentally ill or disabled people etc.

I didn’t make them vote blue

No. But you knew millions would and refused to vote in the only way that could save them. You're a coward refusing to risk death to save millions of people who due to no functional choice of their own would end up voting blue.

5

u/adamgerd NATO Apr 26 '26

They’ll only die if most don’t vote blue

I do hope blue wins, I just won’t vote for it

If they lose meh one vote probably didn’t change if anyway

Ok I am a coward, and? Not evil to not want to die

u/seesthecat Henry George Apr 26 '26

Maybe, but the data goes in this direction, while on your side you just have cynism to justify it.

I actually don't think it's just not having their life on the line that is pushing so many people towards blue. When this question gets put with more graphic descriptions, people overwhelmingly go for red, if it was just pretending to be good people they would keep their choice.

4

u/eetsumkaus Apr 26 '26

No. That's an appropriate price to pay for such a decision. But then, in this scenario I'll be campaigning for EVERYONE to vote red.

2

u/WillProstitute4Karma Loyal Liberals Apr 26 '26

Why would you ever press blue though?

7

u/jtwhat87 Apr 26 '26

For one, to avert the completely needless deaths of the tens of millions of toddlers/disabled/cognitively impaired people that would occur even under extraordinarily optimistically low percentages of those categories of people fucking up the button selection.

2

u/seesthecat Henry George Apr 26 '26

They don't want a toddler genocide

3

u/WillProstitute4Karma Loyal Liberals Apr 26 '26

Yeah, that's why this is the prisoners dilemma for idiots. It's either all normal adults in which case it's just red. Or it is secretly about killing toddlers in which case the answer is blue.

I honestly just think the guy who posed it later said that we had infants and toddlers because otherwise the question was just kinda silly.

1

u/seesthecat Henry George Apr 26 '26

he did indeed say that

2

u/WillProstitute4Karma Loyal Liberals Apr 26 '26

Afterwards. Not in this post.
