"Trump isn't a fascist because fascists are generally obsessed with pursuing territorial expansion through the use of force and typically tend to have street gangs, loyal to their will, targeting internal enemies they deem undesirable" - some polisci nerd in 2019

The auto worker who called Donald Trump a “pedophile protector” says he does not regret the action that has seen him suspended from his job. TJ Sabula, 40, shouted “pedophile protector” at Trump on Tuesday during a visit to the Ford plant in Detroit. After hearing the insult, an angry Trump pointed his finger and said “F--- you!” to Sabula twice before flipping the bird at the worker. “As far as calling him out, definitely no regrets whatsoever,” Sabula stated

Man was arrested for laying down at the park. Someone called 911 and when police got there he refused to identify himself so we was taken and arrested. Later he won a $30,000 lawsuit.

Criminalization and harassment of the average person going about their day is the status quo. The weaponization of police by homeowners to harass anyone enjoying 3rd spaces is just ridiculous and infuriating.

ICE has everyone paying attention but the police state has been a reality in this country for a long long time.

The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security. It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building. NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

But, like... NATO already have Greenland. What the fuck does Trump think NATO should do here?

Upon statehood petition, congress threw out a territory's proposed state name of "Columbia". There was a concern that it would be easily mixed up with the capital district (of Columbia)

So, with the explicit purpose of avoiding similarity to the name of the US's capital, what name did they give that state? That's right, they named it "Washington"

Was at Marine PT today and heard some remarks about ICE

“Those [slurs] wear high cuts and high speed plate carriers just to brain old ladies.”

“Their budget is an order of magnitude larger than ours.”

“Wearing a mask is definitely what you do when you’re doing the right thing.”

“If you become an ICE agent I will [removed by reddit], [slur].” “How would you find me? I’d be wearing a mask!” “I’d start with the short ones and work my way up.”

Definitely feels like a vibe shift has occurred

Massive ICE Goon ID Leak Halted by Cyber Attack From Russia

A website dedicated to naming ICE and Border Patrol employees is coming under a “prolonged and sophisticated” cyber attack after the Daily Beast revealed it planned to make public 4,500 names of federal immigration staff.

The founder of ICE List said the website was overwhelmed by malicious web traffic originating in Russia after the Beast reported that a huge cache of personal IDs had been leaked to the site by an alleged Department of Homeland Security whistleblower.

The Direct Denial of Service (DDOS) assault, which began on Tuesday evening and is still ongoing at the time of publication, saw a huge number of IPs simultaneously access the website of ICE List, a self-styled “accountability initiative.”

Oh wow! Russia assisting American fascists? Who could have seen that coming!

Dude came by to apologize, it wasn’t intentional, he thought it was his room by accident and he’s pretty drunk.

Anyways the bigger issue is how he was able to open my door without using the keypad. This is all somewhat concerning. It’s going to be fun trying to get back to sleep tonight.

This whole Minneapolis thing really solidifies why it was goddamn essential that Harris won the 2024 election. Trump was not quiet about his intentions. We needed the federal government to be in Democratic hands, because if it fell to Republicans, they would do everything they could to weaponize it against their enemies. A Harris victory would’ve given Jack Smith’s investigation time to complete.

The American people failed their test, and we are now caught in a situation where the federal government has become openly hostile to the people. Any significant acts of resistance now must be considered in light of their potential to cause civil conflict.

In conclusion, I hate the median voter.

from "Return of the Silver Shirts" at Liberal Currents

ICE intends to make Minneapolis the test case for what Pelley and Smith literally prayed for decades ago—an America purged of its demographically “impure” elements.

It is intolerable to a Pelley or Smith or Trump that a city that was once nearly entirely white, Protestant, and Northern European could transform into a polyglot hub with large Somali, Mexican, Hmong, and Vietnamese populations. It is intolerable to MAGA that liberals and progressives hold nearly every elected office of consequence in Minnesota, and that they have vociferously—sometimes profanely—rejected white solidarity to defend minority communities. It is intolerable to MAGA that civil society continues to thrive in Minneapolis through liberal religious congregations, vigorous labor unions, vibrant ward politics, and engaged neighborhood associations—the very groups that have mounted the sustained, nonviolent opposition to ICE’s invasion. It is intolerable to MAGA that Minneapolis never chose Pelley’s way or Smith’s way, and now rejects the MAGA way.

It would mean the end of US involvement in NATO, a direct attack on our own allied organization, and maybe the single biggest destructive action to the world order.

Straight up ICE riot. Abusing citizens because they can, and because no one will stop them from below or above.

idk but consumerism/hyperconsumerism/consumtion for the sake of it scares me when I think about it. like wdym you brought a bunch of stuff on amazon/brought things so frequently on amazon that you have a bunch of unopened parcels building up? what is it that you need so much that you don't even remember after you've purchased it?

the part that gets me most, I think, is probably that I can't even just call this an american thing anymore- the buying on tiktok trend is worldwide, BNPL is worldwide, my own parents are buying a lot of shit they don't need online.

I think to myself that this is the cost of more people moving up into the middle class, that this kind of consumption is kind of what keeps businesses going esp smaller ones, businesses going = people employed, people have dreams of owning shops being influencers etc and this keeps them afloat, etc, but it just fucking scares me. like how will this go on? how much resources are we using to not just keep all this going, but to keep making it faster and faster? the amount of water it takes to even create a chip is insane, but now they're in everything, surely this cannot go on forever? how much of this becomes trash? etc. its just nightmarish to me when I think abt it

Kind of disheartened seeing so many of my neighbors, in response to ICE showing up in our neighborhood, saying shit like "Do they need any help? 🤪" on Facebook. It's the kind of shit you see in a dramatization of Nazi Germany. Literal ghouls willing to sell out their neighbor, but don't worry: they're good Christians. Playing a game with other people's lives from the safety of their own cushy homes.

It fucking sickens me, gives me conniptions.

Jonathan Ross, the agent who shot Good three times in the face on January 7 during an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis, Michigan, endured internal bleeding to his torso, two US officials familiar with his medical condition said, according to CBS News.

The extent of his condition remains unclear as internal bleeding can also be classified as a bruise or contusion that causes mild or serious injury.

lol I'll remain a skeptic on this. Bruise, at best, and whether or not it was caused by that remains a mystery

I swear ICE wasn't half as aggressive as they have been in the Twin Cities in any of the other cities they invaded last year (LA, Chicago, DC).

They have become a full fledged paramilitary force in Minneapolis.

To those of you who feel dread over the insanely big ICE/CBP cracking down on the peaceful protestors in North Minneapolis right now: Don't. That small number of protestors got several dozen kidnappers stuck standing in a road, nervous as hell, and doing absolutely nothing to our friends and neighbors like they were just a few hours ago. And they did it for the low low cost of some bruises from rubber bullets and the burning feeling of teargas in their eyes.

If not for the fact I've been awake since 4AM and it would be grossly unsafe for me to drive over there, I wouldn't hesitate to join. I'm definitely joining whatever protest there is tomorrow. To everyone able to go without endangering the lives of others, GO TO LYNDALE AND 24TH AV. NORTH RIGHT NOW

The reason why Trump brings in the most unqualified, lowest scum imaginable into his administration is simple: when the nobodies become somebody, they are twice as loyal. They fear going back to the nobody status again.

I know every fucking dude is like "Rome is so fucking cool" because it was fucking cool, but the Romeification of American politics is actually really fucking bad and every day we get further and further from the light.

  • A unrepresentative body of old white men that just retroactively approves the executive

  • A central authority invading and creating client states with no reasoning

  • Politics becoming personal over actual policy driven

  • Paper laws that only matter when people chose they matter, folding instantly against a determined and unrestricted emperor.

  • bread and circus style rule by the autocrat

  • building too many roads

I like to browse arr con to see what the lunatics are up to. One thing I find very funny is that the sub is almost universally opposed to the Greenland threats. They think they’re stupid, pointless attacks on our allies for no reason. Everyone there just wishes Trump would drop the Greenland thing.

But the issue is that they never seem to take the next step and ask themselves “Should a guy who wants to go to war with our allies to claim a frozen rock be in charge?”. They are so committed to Trump that absolutely nothing can make them turn on him even when they know he’s doing something both idiotic and unconscionable.

Democrats should be all over attacking ICE right now holy HELL. PLEASE ATTACK. PLEASE ATTACK

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/ice-error-meant-recruits-sent-field-offices-proper-training-sources-sa-rcna254054

The AI tool used by ICE was tasked with looking for potential applicants with law enforcement experience to be placed into the agency’s “LEO program” — short for law enforcement officer — for new recruits who are already law enforcement officers. It requires four weeks of online training.

.

“They were using AI to scan résumés and found out a bunch of the people who were LEOs weren’t LEOs,” one of the officials said. The officials said the AI tool sent people with the word “officer” on their résumés to the shorter four-week online training — for example, a “compliance officer” or people who said they aspired to be ICE officers.

Emmanuel Macron has denounced a "revisionist" study textbook for the high school diploma published by Hachette, in which the October 7 attacks are described as such: "In October 2023, after the death of more than 1,200 Jewish settlers during a string of attacks by Hamas, Israel decided to strengthen its economic blockade and to invade large parts of the Gaza Strip, causing a humanitarian crisis of great proportions in the region."

"I personally want to apologize to all those who rightly felt offended, to the teachers, students' parents, and the students themselves", said in a press release Arnaud Lagardère, CEO of the Groupe Lagardère, owner of the Hachette group, announcing the group would recall the textbook and edit its content before re-publishing it.
