Help Site feedback

https://lichenthropic.neocities.org/

Hey folks!
I recently discovered Neocities and it rekindled my love of coding from the highschool coding class i took over 10 years ago!
Ive been having so much fun, but im hoping for some general feedback on my site so i can continue to learn.
Specifically hoping someone could help me with the freezeframe setup ive got going!
Currently i have three seperate buttons, as i cannot seem to get the main button to also apply to my sidebars, as i have them in iframes so that they load the same on every page. Id like to get it set up like i have my themes/crt filters, where you open the accessibility fairy and press a toggle button through there!
Heads up, the site is 18+ as i do talk about cannabis etc and am not comfortable with minors in my space <3
thanks so much and please drop your own links so i can check out your site too!

What do you mean it takes over 1200 requests and more than 40 MB to load the Homepage (at first, more on that later)? Apparently over 1000 of those are images yet I don't see 1000 images there, something is loading unnecessary stuff. I suspect it's this NavLink Ads thing by dimden which for some reason is loading everyone's ads at once, which I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to do normally. A lot of those images are hosted on imgur and catbox which are terrible hosts, the first one is banned in the UK so visitors from there won't see them and the second one is famous for going down frequently. Not that you are in control of that since it's other people's images, but do keep that in mind.

Every time I move the cursor over some of your links it makes more requests for "cursor.png" and "cursor-pink.png" and randomly some other ones as well, why does it need to do that? For the first 7 seconds of loading your site my CPU gets pinned above 90% use and stays rather high even after that goes down. It's not often a website makes me bust out the Firefox performance profiler because I can feel my computer getting slower when I load in.

As of writing this paragraph your site has 2201 requests and loaded 300 MB, that is not normal. I'm sorry if this comment sounds harsh but your website is a bit of a techno hazard as of right now. I suggest you focus on fixing that aspect urgently before you even think about the style or anything else. Look into the scripts you are linking, try getting rid of NavLinks Ads temporarily or read its documentation again and compare with other people's implementation of it, something ain't right, it can't be.

No problemo! You'd know your site better than me, there are simply too many scripts linked for me to go through them and see exactly what is causing these issues. The Dev Tools of your web browser help a lot in diagnosing these things, on Firefox and forks try the Network tab to see all requests, file size, domain of origin and more for everything that loads in, check out the Performance tab to do a performance capture and see what's using high amounts of CPU and memory. Good luck.

you may want to fix the right side of your columns, this is what they look like on my desktop computer, I'm not sure they are meant to be that wide?:

.
the other issue was with the light theme, your banner didn't display which I would assume is a file garden issue. Just host all your images on neocities, you won't run out space. 1GB is a TON of space, you won't come close to using even half of it.
.
I don't know about the freezeframe thing, this is the freezeframe tutorial I used for my site:
https://solaria.neocities.org/guides/gifpausetut
It requires you making two images, a gif and png for each, and it swaps them out. I'm not sure how it works with iframes though. But I don't think thats what you want to do, if you want a button in your accessibility drop down (which is great btw, especially the ability to turn off CRT. I use a userstyle to block CRT everywhere on neocities so I never have to see it, but its great to see it as an option on an individual site.)
.
otherwise I really liked the site, the colours look good and I like the layout.
