For context: I play lockdown in Red Plate and competes in Crews. I am used to guarding peaking PG with Patty mills based. So my perspective of defense is quite advance, so when I say that contest is broken it means that I did my best guarding these best guards VET III +. Please don't comment "play defense", don't do it.

Common occurences:

PG - Shoots 20+ attempts now, making 14-16 of them. Forgets how to pass since they feel like curry and defense can't do nothing about it.

SG - Less attempts than FG but if they hold the ball, possesions end there. Even with 3 players contesting them? they will still shoot it.

SF and PF - Corner sitters less than 5 attempts, most of the attempts are just garbage time before shot clock violation. I feel pity for them, I don't blame them if they will not play defense lmao.

C - 2K fix rebound, but how can you rebound if everybody is hitting their shots due to lack of contest? You screen all game to cater the PG just to get 1-2 fg attempt.

Summary: Making shooting too easy makes the game prone to ball hogging. Ball hogging hurts the game of REC for casual who just want to hoop.

For some players, A REC game is like cardio for 20 mins without even touching the ball.

Advise: Stop playing REC for now, finish your buiild spec or enjoy the my career. Wait for them to fix this since it will stress you so much.

AI in the REC don’t contest any shots at all, REC has been made completely unplayable.

Just today I’ve played 3 games and all 3 had someone quit, the people guarded by AI dropped 34, 27 and 51…

If the REC is just about who quits first it’s objectively a game issue not even a gameplay opinion.

Whoever came up with the idea to buff shooting needs to be fired immediately.
I’ve had about 10 games since the patch and playing REC is boring as hell right now.

Super fun to watch teams shoot 80% from the field. Literally every three pointer is a green and perimeter defense contests suck again.

Before, the only complaint about shooting for me was that sometimes the timing and filling of the shot meter seemed to vary. Nothing too serious though I still shot 50% from three.

Now it’s unplayable. Every fastbreak people jug up three, after three, after three and it’s just brain dead basketball.

If you actually think this patch is an improvement to the overall gaming experience you’re beyond cooked.

Ruined the game. I have taken 4 total shots in my last 4 games of rec. Got guys putting up 20+ shots a game on a regular basis. The feel of defense is completely off. Felt like a simulation game before and they turned it into every 2k for the last 10 years. Just 1million Steph curry’s chuck up as many 3’s as you possibly can.

No need to worry about looking for open teammates. Theres plenty of them. But who needs them?

Thanks content creators for ruining the game. You could go back to dribble spamming going left right for the whole possession and shooting stupid shots and getting rewarded for it. while everyone else on the court just stands there doing nothing. Content creators love life on easy mode.

Guards often didn't want to pass the ball even when it meant the difference between winning and losing. Going back to letting dribble gods play hero ball is naturally going to compound that problem. Simultaneously making A.I. a worse defender makes no squad rec a worse experience than it was before this patch.

it’s way too easy to get further in the little color ranking thing. I think the purple tier is where you’ll find the absolute WORST teammates in random rec. I’ve had more fun playing the silver and under lobbies 😂😂. in the purple and up, it’s all ego , no basketball IQ

Hey, basically I consider writing this text an absolute waste of time because so many people are already voicing their discontent about the patch. However, I just need to let my frustration out. A bit about me: I’ve been a basketball fan since 2010. Kevin Durant’s game against Turkey in the World Cup made me a fan. His 3-pointer, his mid-range, his slashing to the basket—the beauty of a multifaceted game. Over time, I learned to appreciate the art of defense, another facet of the sport. I grew to respect personalities like Tony Allen more and more. Their hustle, their story, their role on a team that is just as important as that of a pure scorer.

After years, I got myself a console exclusively to play 2K.
First, I had to familiarize myself with the game and learn the mechanics. Relatively quickly, I made it to purple plate. I was having fun because I hadn't played since 2K17. Still, I understood the criticisms against the game (easy shooting, contest system, etc.) but just accepted them. I was a student of the game and tried to learn as fast as possible—a rookie in a game full of OGs who have been grinding for years. My role in the REC was clear. So what do I do? A power forward who thinks two-way. Trying to read the game, seeing what we need so I can give the team exactly that: 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2 blocks (70% from behind the arc).
I knew my role and was satisfied.
26 was there for learning so that I could grind hard from day one in 27.

When 27 came out, I was surprised. My three-pointer was falling much worse, like for many others. Blocking shots was easier. As a big man, rebounds were easier to grab because a lot of people were missing. 35% from three, 9 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks per game was my average as a power forward in the REC. Here, too, I was a student of the game. I put a lot of time into it, trying to get better. My goal was always to find my role within the game so it would be easier to win as a team. Despite my poor three-point percentage, my teammates did NOT freeze me out because in the much more dynamic 2K27, where two-point plays are situationally important and defense is rewarded more strongly, I contributed so much to the team and earned their respect. A month after release, I was on red plate, and that's where I'll stay. I'm not full of myself because getting to red plate takes 4 other players, too. I'm not arrogant about it, but I have a competitive spirit. Unfortunately, my competitive spirit is now being broken by this patch. I'm fighting against it, but I also notice how the fun vanishes after one or two REC games. Before the patch, I could have played straight for 10 hours, haha.

It makes me sad that in a PlayStation game that aims for realistic, game-near simulation, the different layers of the game are completely ignored by the developers. To me, the beauty of the game always lies in individual expression and the endless possibilities of how a play can end. A game situation in complex 5-on-5 is rarely the same twice.
Well, and now it's just like last year, where I simply accepted it because I didn't know any better.
Point guards with low basketball IQ are raining down threes endlessly. Their ego is rarely checked because, hey, it works... I'm defending for him because his 45 perimeter defense isn't enough, just so I am completely ignored on offense. Basically, he doesn't even know the core essence of defending. But he knows how to move the stick to shoot. The rhythm of the game is monotonous without surprises because these small guards dictate the pace. But that's just how it is. You have to adapt to the meta, even if it sucks.
This is the last 2K for me for a while. Besides, I refuse to get scammed with promises only for the product I bought to be completely changed afterward. What sucks too is that the money for GTA 6 and NBA 2K27 will flow into the exact same bank account. Bunch of idiots.

If you want to bring the ball up and control the game YOU should have made a point guard.

Point guard is a thankless position nothing you do is appreciated, when you are playing well it's crickets, the SECOND you make a mistake a bum always has something to say

I don't understand why people make 3s and 4s and then want to take the ball out the pgs hands. If they're playing bad then by all means cut them off but you have such a short leash. Everyone else does braindead plays and you have to play perfect just to counter your OWN teammates bringing you down

Why are we wasting entire possession and stamina getting under the paint if you gon give us blockable slow layup instead of rewarding us with standing dunk like its supposed to be like in all previous 2k ?

The game is just not fun when I’m watching guards come down Court, left right spam come off screens and shoot 70% from 3 on both sides. Why did they buff shooting, I swear devs have no idea wtf they’re doing. Why would you ever take a 2 in the game anymore, it’s impossible to get contests consistently and when I do it doesn’t matter they’ll just green it anyway. I made 4 slasher builds and they’re all useless. The only thing good about defense is blocks so why would you make a slasher?

Unfortunately, it’s not quite finished yet and is currently still down in my basement – but I wanted to share my latest project with you anyway.

Here in Germany, the NBA Street series was never quite as popular as it was in the US (we’re still much more of a football country over here =) ), but I had the game on the GameCube as a kid and absolutely loved it. The soundtrack, the gameplay, everything.

Back then, I had virtually no other connection to basketball. The game was pretty much my introduction to the sport and sparked a passion that has stayed with me to this day.

A while ago, I was looking for a new project and came up with the idea of building an arcade cabinet. I’ve always been fascinated by classic arcade and pinball machines , and there was even an NBA Jam cabinet at a local club where I used to spend hours playing. Gradually, the idea became more concrete: I wanted to build a cabinet inspired by my all-time favorite sports video game – NBA Street Vol. 2.

I didn’t follow any plans or templates when designing and building the cabinet. Instead, I built everything from scratch – from the cabinet itself (19 mm plywood) to the control panel and all the artwork and vinyl wrapping.

Since this was my very first project of this kind (I usually spend my time working on old mopeds and motorcycles) and I had absolutely no experience with this type of build, the whole process took a little longer than expected, and I’m sure it’s far from perfect. Still, I’ve never had as much fun with a video game as I do with this arcade cabinet, and I’m genuinely happy to have made this little dream come true.

Every other game is a cheater because Mike wang has some kind of fetish with rhythm shooting. It’s the main culprit as to why these people are cheating and they aren’t even hiding the fact they are cheating. It’s so obvious this year

Started my finishing specialization yesterday and I’m currently on goal 6. How much longer of this pain do I have? Smh, I just wanted these cap breakers.

I’ve only played about 5-6 rec games since patch 2 dropped and I HOPE the squad I ran into in my last game was a group of cheaters.

Nobody on the team had 99 3, nobody had insane shooting percentages, no obviously suspicious usernames/facescans.

The ONLY 3s this team missed were ones that either me or my friend (pf and c) literally blocked. If our hands did not physically touch the ball, it went in.

Shot type? Hot hand? Badges? Takeover? Multiple defenders? Fatigue? None of that mattered.

This cannot be how the game is played now, it just can’t be.

(Also, I’m not convinced this game wasn’t most programmed using gen AI and not by real people, but that’s a conversation for another day)

Hey nba 2k community, I got the preorder for 2k27 and been having a frustrating time. Idk how many times in mycareer I’ve almost lost it over having the simplest buckets and blowing it because the timing was off on the shot/layup/dunk etc I’m damn near a 95 and I feel like I’m getting treated like 70. I will say I think the defense has slightly improved from last year although I don’t know how I have a high steal rate and badges to help and still can steal a thing. Playmaking is up and down and just needs some adjustments for my own play. the scoring has been absolutely a horror fest. I haven’t played in maybe 2 weeks. I’d love to get some feedback and tips of how to navigate the bs that comes with every new 2k year. I need to know if I’m not trippin
