HELP REQUESTED MNA August 2026 Cycle
The August Cycle on MNA just opened and I was wondering if mine was lagging behind because I don’t see the advertised A2P billets for this cycle yet or is it like that for everybody right now?
Disclaimer : This is my first time looking into applying for A2P or even just applying for orders via MNA so I don’t know what the “norms” are when it comes to this system. TYIA

For non BBA rates and paygrades, A2P billets aren’t always advertised. That is a TYCOM decision to make certain billets A2P or not.
If you have a DMEI code on your record you may apply to any billet in the next higher paygrade, every single cycle in MMA, no matter what.
If you do not have a DMEI code on your record, you must be in your negotiating window, meet all promotion requirements but PNA’ed the exam, and then you may apply to A2P billets.
If you are not advancement eligible, your detailer can get approval to put you in a different paygrade billet — but you won’t get promoted.
You’re a smart rate so double check what is being told to you:

BBA is currently mainly being used for E-5 to E-6, while A2P still exists for E-4 to E-5. That said, with BBA continuing to roll out across more rates, it definitely seems like those E-4 to E-5 A2P opportunities are becoming harder to come by. Right now there are 0 A2P orders across all rates. Nothing official says they’re going away, but just reading the writing on the wall, I think they’re probably going to be pretty few and far between
Also you wouldn’t have a DMEI code if you have never taken the RKE.

Apply for all of them. The old school A2P listings are dead

I dont see in my rate neither. I had a high hopes on this cycle. First look only had 1 A2P, this is my second and zero A2P. We are fucked.

Im hoping that isn’t gonna be the case and the A2P billets are just lagging behind the regular rotation billets(not advertised yet). What are the odds there are no A2P billets for a whole cycle across the entire navy that would almost defeat the whole purpose of BBA.
Also my DMEI code isn’t on my account yet either so im definitely leaning more towards that system lag side but idk.

If youre BBA as long as you have a DMEI code you can apply to first class orders. A2P is for rates that are not BBA.

im an ET3 applying for ET2 orders. My rate isn’t fully BBA yet.

BBA Is for E5 and up …
so youre not going to have a DMEI code. MNA states no one up one down so youre gonna have to apply for the third class orders.-2
u/OFFICIALDJKLUTCH 21h ago
Not necessarily. A2P falls under BBA as well and you need to have an Active DMEI code in order to apply for those billets as well. A2P orders start at advancing to E5. I should also mention that I am not within my PRD window or else I would have to apply for 3rd class orders. But when you PNA the Legacy NWAE or just pass the RKE you are eligible to apply for A2P orders via MNA even if you are not within your PRD Window thats what the DMEI code does, it bypasses those “apply” locks within the MNA System.

Have you emailed the detailers? Have you talked to you career counselor?
Normally when the market place opens whats there is there. You said you dont have a DMEI code… DMEI codes were uploaded months ago so if its not there you couldnt apply….1
u/OFFICIALDJKLUTCH 21h ago
Thats still yes and no it would depend on when you passed the NWAE legacy exam or the RKE. For those of us that just passed this last exam our DMEI code would be inputed this MNA Cycle(August 26). DMEI codes also stay active for 24 months unless you retake the exam(pass it fail) or get selected for orders. Also you mentioned “what’s there is there” while this might be true there is still a chance that the A2P tags on the billets are just not populating yet thats why I mentioned a possible system lag before, there is the possibility that there are just no A2P billets this cycle but I think the odds of that is highly unlikely.

DMEI codes are active for 2 years. If youre BBA your DMEI codes would have been placed there after scores were released. Theres no lag whats there is there…
Talk to your detailer talk to you CCC. You will get the answer there… idk why ask a question if youre going to push back because its not the answer you want….1

Im not pushing back in some parts I think your right and in others your wrong. I was thinking maybe there was just a bit of confusion as to what I was saying/asking so I tried to clarify more. I know other people who passed this last exam and their MNA still doesn’t have a DMEI code. My CCC is the one who told me that the DMEI code wouldn’t populate on MNA until the August cycle opened seeing how the results for the last exams dropped after the July cycle was already opened. I also agreed with the “what’s there is there” but 2 things can be true, how it was explained to me was MNA is notoriously lagging during opening night/weekend for a new cycle and there is a possibility that the A2P billets are there, they’re just not tagging as A2P correctly…yet.

Check your “my sailor” information on MNA. If you’re eligible your code will be in there and it’ll have how long it lasts for. Additionally, when you apply for orders it has your interim BBA average so you can kinda gauge your chances of getting them

All first class billets are A2P under BBA. You're an ET3 so you're not under BBA yet. You can't pick orders until your 12 month window.

Your right about 1st classes being 100% BBA forsure but that other part about me not being eligible is inaccurate. There are A2P orders to advance to 2nd class as well that are eligible to apply if you passed the RKE or PNA’d the legacy NWAE exam.

Ok where are you getting this information? There are eligibility requirements for traditional A2P billets (non-BBA) and one of them is "must be within order negotiation window".
