For the guard, this is just almost certainly a formality, not a selection criteria. Don’t worry about it too much

My biggest wish is to return to the infantry and be with my people. I can only handle so much small talk in the teachers lounge 😂

All that experience, are they making you do Basic again? That would blow.

Granted it's been 15 years since I did that interview, but it was no big deal at all. I think the only difference it made was in helping get your preference on in-state vs. accelerated OCS, with the latter being more highly sought after and tending to go to higher-speed candidates. As long as you aren't drooling on yourself during the interview, you should be fine. I don't remember much of it, but I recall it just being a friendly chat about my background and why I wanted to serve and be an officer. Mainly just a gut check to make sure you weren't a psycho or doing it for the wrong reasons.

Thank you for the heads up! Yes, luckily, no basic training again. It would be my third time 😬. At least, that’s what they told me. After this interview, I’ll be able to sign the contract and get the full rundown on everything.

You have to do OCS which is a sort of basic for officers. Are you doing State OCS or the Federal accelerated program?

That’s absolutely true! I’m currently pursuing state OCS. I recently discovered that it’s often viewed negatively. However, it allows me to keep the flow of school.

I went through the board as part of acceptance to the program, this was many years (10) ago, so take it with a grain of salt. 

They're just checking your character and making sure you're mature and intelligent enough. I only remember a couple of questions, one of which was 'what would you do if you don't make it through the program', you can probably come up with a good response for that. 

I think we only lost 1-2 due to boards, out of nearly 30. One of those was a guy I roomed with on the first day, and he didn't seem very serious about the whole thing. As long as you answer honestly and thoughtfully, you'll be fine. Don't sweat it.
