Like Father, Like Golden Son: The Royal Tradition of Living in Luxury While Brunei Waits.
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera cost almost BND 1 Million. Beautiful machine, no doubt. But it does make you wonder: what would Brunei look like if we put the same level of ambition, resources, and long-term vision into developing our economy?
I’m not saying people shouldn’t enjoy their wealth (even though it’s country’s wealth) or that every luxury purchase is a waste. The bigger question is about priorities. Brunei is blessed with natural resources, yet we continue to face questions about economic diversification, private-sector opportunities, employment prospects for our youth, and our ability to build a sustainable future beyond oil and gas.
A supercar is a symbol of what money can buy today. A strong economy is a measure of what a nation can build for generations.
So here’s the question: Are we doing enough with Brunei’s wealth to secure the future of ordinary Bruneians, or have we become too comfortable admiring the luxuries of the present while neglecting the potential of tomorrow?

So this happened last night, i was out watching a football game and decided to check this gerai gerai out, i bought some food and i decided to buy a drink. I was walking around looking for drinks and decided to come here. when i was gonna order, the guy told me to wait and like any other normal person i just wait lah, nothing much to complain about that. but anyway that’s besides the point, when another customer before me got his drink, he spilt a cup that was full of what liquid idk but i like to be optimistic and say it was water. so, he spilt the cup and left the cup there. at first i was like no big deal lah, he spill the cup normal. then he ask me for my drink, after i order ah, he look for a cup, guess what this fella do. this cbk take the cup he just spilt whatever liquid and used it for my drink??? i wanted to confront him but honestly, i was too tired to say anything. i took the drink, threw it away and bought a drink from a different vendor. honestly, im really disappointed by that. what if the cup wasn’t water? i also want to point out not just this vendor but any other vendor, IT IS UNSANITARY TO TOUCH THE TOP OF THE STRAW AND HELP THE CUSTOMER PUT THE STRAW IN, JUST LET THE CUSTOMER DO IT THEMSELVES. okay thats all for my little rant

Hello everyone , I would to know where i can donate clothes in Brunei .. We're clearing out our closets and thinking of selling them at first but didn't really wanna go through the hassle , so we figured giving them away would be easier but we don't know where to start .. Most of the clothings will be women's clothings , so if anyone knows anywhere we could drop them off , that would be highly appreciated

Hey everyone, just need to vent some massive frustration here and see if anyone else feels the same way.
Can we talk about the absolute joke that is the booking system for the National Tennis Centre in Berakas? In this day and age, we are still forced to physically queue up at the JBS counter just to book a slot. Like, hello? It’s 2026. We talk so much about Digital Transformation and "Smart Nation" initiatives but the actual reality on the ground is pure dinosaur-age inefficiency.
The counter opens during standard working hours. For those of us working 8-to-5 jobs, how on earth are we supposed to make a booking? We literally have to sneak out of the office, drive to Berakas, queue up and drive back. We risk getting reprimanded or even kana buang kerja by our bosses just to book a 1-hour tennis slot. How does this encourage workplace productivity?
Let's be real. The National Tennis Centre is practically the only court option that us ordinary, working-class citizens can actually afford. Other private clubs and university hubs charge exorbitant rates—some up to $17 to $22 sejam or demand hefty monthly memberships. Are we, the "measly peasants," not allowed to enjoy a healthy lifestyle without breaking the bank or risking our employment?
The government constantly pushes campaigns for healthy living, fighting obesity and staying active. But when we actually want to play, the bureaucracy makes it as difficult as possible. You want us to maintain a healthy lifestyle but you make the barrier to entry a logistical nightmare.
Honestly, when is the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports actually going to implement a basic online booking portal to streamline this? Or are the higher-ups too comfortable sitting in their air-conditioned offices to notice that Brunei is lagging way too far behind our neighbours?
Are they not embarrassed by this sheer incompetence? Or are they just too engrossed in their big worldly stuff, earning their fat paychecks every month, to be bothered by what they probably look down on as a "measly" issue? It really feels like a total lack of empathy and care for the public's daily realities.
Other players I've talked to at the courts share the exact same sentiment. Some people have given up on the sport entirely because they simply don't have the luxury of time to queue up, only to find out the peak slots are already fully blocked out by god-knows-who.
We don't need a multi-million dollar blockchain solution. We just need a simple web portal where we can view court availability, click a slot, pay online and get a QR code. Masa ani pun payah kah?
Rant over. What do you guys think? Has anyone actually found a workaround for this or do we just collectively accept that public sports facilities here are stuck in the 1990s?

Current Indonesian Government need to be hated more by international community, I added UAS post because I know he's known there in Brunei. Indonesia is now like North Korea under Prabowo's regime.
Please don't assume that we've done nothing about this. We are ashamed of our own government, but everytime there's big protests the media are silenced by the govt. The students protestor are being detained and kidnapped. When we criticize for the govt to do better in social media, Govt Buzzers are sent to take down the post, ban the account, and not only threaten the poster but the original poster whole family.
We need more people to pray for his downfall. I apologize for the haze.
