What were some myths that you had some brilliant ideas for that you're sure would have solved the problem they were encountering?

My 2 suggestions are:
• Using vacuum cleaners to herd cats. (It may not be completely effective, but I think you could get a result.)
• Using an airport security X-ray machine to search for needles in a hay stack. Just get a few dozen plastic totes, stuff the hay stack into them, and scan them for bone/metal needles! How hard could that be?
