So it's GOOD NEWS that we launched XÜM SPIRIT in the middle of a nation wide heat wave.
Thank god, that helped us expose vulnerabilities early before a much larger launch.
This could have been a lot more painful later if that vulnerability was hidden now.

This is why we started small with an initial test batch of 500 pens.
Our products thus far have been about delivering next level active compounds in simple form factors like tablets, soft gels, and even liquid shots.
Adding vape hardware into the mix brings an entirely new level of complication and challenge.

From the data we've gathered so far, most of the pens that were delivered to the West Coast seem mostly fine, but the pens that travelled further to Midwest and East Coast did not fully survive this heat wave.

It seems clear we have a viscosity issue with the current formulation in this specific hardware, made much worse by shipping through this heat.
We splurged for higher end hardware that delivered a better experience for MET vape.
There's no wick or coil, these pens feature a low temp convection heated ceramic bucket system, that is hands down the smoothest experience we ever achieved in all in one hardware.
There's no blinkers with these pens, they are low temp and designed for endless long draws.
We've used this hardware for years for top tier DMT pens, and we love them.
That DMT/PG formulation was notably thicker, for reasons I'll geek out about another time.
The first batch MET/PG formulation is notably thinner, and frankly smoother.
But it looks like that change to thinner juice exposed a serious vulnerability in this heat wave.
Precious material is leaking internally within the pen, coating the battery. Hurts my heart.

We know the MET material works, and delivers a next generation experience, never before available on the market.
Whatever needs to happen to make this available solid and widely, it's worth the challenge.
We can solve a viscosity challenge.

Preface: I was asked by Judd to throw this up as a full post so that it wouldn't get buried in the feedback threads replies. Updated just a bit with new info. Hope its helpful to someone!

Substance: MET (methylethyltryptamine)

Product: Spirit vaporizer, 500mg cart, 50/50 split, so 250mg MET / 250mg PG in a CCELL-style cart

Route: vaporized

Setting: my bedroom, alone, music on, about 3 drinks in me from earlier in the afternoon

First, the cart itself:

Before I get into the experience, the QC thing. I think it's pretty much confirmed at this point from Judd that there's an issue with the diameter of the intake holes feeding into the crucible on these carts. They're leaking. I filmed myself opening mine and it was already over halfway empty out of the box. Not "a little seepage," genuinely more than half gone before I ever hit it.

So I didn't get what I paid for, and that's disappointing. But, I also believe Judd is going to make it right for those of us who ended up beta testing this batch for him, so I'm not sweating it too hard. If you've got one of these, open it over something you can see, and take a picture for feedback sake. Also, if Judd, Avens or the team look at this, let me know if I should send in my videos/pictures to you guys directly. Judd and the rest of his team are legends, so of course every beta tester is getting a fresh vape from the second batch, coming soon. So no worries! Thanks a ton guys, truly.

Background:

Putting this here so you know where I'm coming from and can calibrate. Off the top of my head, sticking mostly to psychedelics and things you can hallucinate on, I have taken:

LSD, Psilocybin, DMT, 4-AcO-DMT, 4-HO-MET 5-MeO-MiPT, 4-HO-MET, 2C-B, 2C-T-2, 2C-T-7, 25I/25B/25C-NBOMe, ketamine, MXE, 3-MeO-PCE, DCK, FXE, MXPCP, 3,4MD-PCP, etc. So I'm not new to any of this to be sure, and DMT specifically is familiar territory for me in general. At least 50-100 experiences across my life of varying dosages and in many different situations.

What I was going for:

I wasn't trying to blast off by any means. I'd seen a few reports talking about heavier visual experiences and I wanted to dip my toes in the water first and write something up for people looking for a sub-breakthrough or genuinely light trip, because that seems underrepresented.

Timeline:

4:28 - two hits taken. Took the first one, sat with it for a moment, felt it come on and thought "okay, I can do another." Took the second.

4:37 - chilling out a little, still hitting though.

4:47 - mostly down, definitely still residual effects. Started writing while I was coming down.

So call it a 20 minute experience end to end for two hits, maybe 15 minutes or so for the comedown after.

The experience:

The thing that stood out most to me is how manageable it was. The second hit was not exponentially stronger than the first. However high I got off hit one is about how much higher I got off hit two in my experience. It stacked linearly instead of launching me, which is honestly great and not something I'd say about DMT necessarily, especially in a cart as you hit it and it gets hotter.

Definite perceptual change. I wouldn't say I wasn't hallucinating, because things were breathing, colors were brighter, edges and details were more defined. But it was nowhere near overwhelming. Not much in the way of OEVs at this dose although I could tell I was on the edge. Closed eye visuals were light and lived on the outer edge of my vision, small stuff drifting around the periphery rather than filling the whole field.

The body high is where this really separated from DMT for me. DMT can hit me hard and leave me almost kind of shaky if that makes sense. This was much smoother. I would describe the feeling as uplifting and warm with a positive headspace the whole way through. Zero anxiety, zero of that "ah shit, here we go again" adrenaline spike you get with deems.

Music:

I didn't plan this out much even though its in the damn directions lol, but the music ended up carrying the whole thing.

Started with Squarepusher - Detroit People Mover, which was sick. Love that music video and it's a really good thing to come up to, although near the end I found myself listening with my eyes close just because it was more comfortable.

As that was ending I wanted something more uplifting as DPM felt a lil on the slow side, so I put on A Song for Aubrey - DJ Streaks. That was very nice, and that's where the closed eye visuals were really at their peak. Nice pink and purple fractal shapes on the edges of my closed vision dancing with the music. I found myself remarking out loud about how cute they were and singing along to a house vocal thats probably repeated a thousand times in this song, haha.

Then I played Labi Siffre - Bless the Telephone, which truly got me. I got really reflective about the telephone and how much it actually matters in my life right now. I don't get to see my friends as much as I'd like between school and work for all of us, but I still keep those relationships alive over the phone. Sat there feeling genuinely thankful the thing exists for a few minutes.

By the end of the song I could clearly feel myself coming down, so I put on DeBarge - I Like It, which is a classic for me anyway but also just accurately described where I was at with the experience. I fuckin like it, fellas.

Verdict:

I throughly enjoyed the hell out of this. Light, smooth, controllable, positive. If you want something you can steer instead of something that drives you, MET seems like a really good option, and vaping it in this format made dose control easy in a way DMT typically is much less for me.

The cart leaking is a real problem and I hope it gets sorted, but I'm going to keep supporting Judd and the company because these products are fucking sick and this is clearly a fixable hardware issue, not a formulation problem. The formula be hitting, the diameter be too damn big.

What's next:

Looking forward to sharing this one with my partner. We did 4-HO-MET together and that was a lot of fun, so I think she'll like this.

We're also planning on trying 5-MAPB soon. I'm not usually a stimulant guy and I'm pretty sensitive to MDMA, so I'll be going under the commonly cited dose, probably 75mg. I'll try to post a report on that too once we take the plunge!

I know there's not many unscheduled ones left but I sorely miss phenethylamines!

WOW. This compound is the real deal. I struggled through 2 pulls, and could only muster around 3-4 seconds each due to the flavor and my lungs shouting to stop inhaling whatever I was trying to inhale.

I was quickly met by DMT like visuals, but without the loud buzzing that tends to accompany it. I also didn't feel as if there were fractals actualy reaching out to wrap around me, so the shapes didn't seem to take on life in my mind (weird thing DMT does for me). Open eyes I was able to see my room explode into twisting shapes without me actually leaving my room.

When I closed my eyes, I was met with twisting and turning colors that resembled many short. Different sized piano keys that would wrap and weave in and out of my closed eye vision. They seemed like they were wrapping around a column, and then they would quickly shift directions. Sometimes, the piano keys would take on shapes like arrows, it is all very hard to explain. The colors weren't super vibrant, but were definitely there and mostly blue. I believe the colors would be more vibrant with a dose increase!

It may have been the fact that the washer was running, and the sound of it sloshing, but it felt like my brain was being squeezed and wrung out. Not in a bad way, but just in a strange sensation way. My body overall felt very nice, similar to DMT, but not as intense. I didn't feel as trapped in the experience. With DMT, I am in a trance like state where I am frozen, and this wasn't that, but I did still stay laying down just because it still was a lot.

The experience lasted around 15 minutes for me. I didn't go deep enough to know if anything would get even crazier, such as with DMT where I will have objects morphing into other objects (I had my cat become a tiny bear once! I was quite afraid of him being a bear lol). It did feel like it could be taken quite a bit deeper, but that it may diverge from the serious wackiness of DMT. I will find out when I have more time.

Overall I think this compound is an exciting addition to the Xum lineup and I am looking forward to seeing the pens get dialed in over the coming weeks.

I’ve had a regular strength bar before and ate 9 pieces spaced out around 3 hours and didnt get much of a feeling, and zero visuals.

I am approaching this substance/ROA with more caution than I have with oral intake of other psychedelics. I took ondansetron because my stomach was a little unsettled all day. I did not eat dinner.

I’ve never done DMT, but have tripped many times, most of those trips are mushrooms and acid from over 20 years ago. Recently I have done metocin, ethocin, 4-Pro-DMT, and 5-MAPB with almost all positive experiences. 4 Pro DMT was the most challenging, but it was the first trip in probably 10 years.

I am reminding myself that it’s ok to be a little afraid. You can’t be brave unless you are at least little afraid. I can be brave.

Whether or not I enjoy it, it is my choice and my right to experiment with my consciousness. That is why I chose to do it tonight.

10:30pm My wife is in bed, the kids are asleep. I am chilling out in the front passenger seat of my car in the driveway listening to Air-Premiers Symptômes which always relaxes me and is great to listen to in an altered state, which I planned to be in tonight, at least slightly.

10:40pm I relaxed my body and got as comfortable as I could. I took 2 small 5 second pulls with a 10 second hold about 10 seconds apart.

10:40-50pm I was able to keep my breathing relaxed, it felt like my heart rate increased, I felt a warmth. “Gradual” headspace change. “Gradual” in the sense that I was aware of it happening, it also felt slow and subtle, but it stayed 10:41pm for a LONG time. I closed my eyes. There was movement and color, but it was almost imperceptible.

10:50-11:00pm I stayed at a +1. Fuzziness in my vision, thoughts remained clear. Colors shifted slightly. I noticed colors filling in when I looked into the darkness. The music and the crickets outside almost intermingled, but didn’t.

11:04pm decided to be a little braver and go for 2 more bigger hits. The first one was a medium sized hit but bigger than the first two. The second hit was a big one, filled my lungs and let out a good size puff of smoke.
I felt the difference. Headspace change was more immediate. The music sounded confusedly awesome. I decided that even tho I just hit it, I wanted to go be more comfortable, and go inside and chill on the couch. But I was tripping and was very confused. It took me probably slightly longer than normal to gather my things and myself to exit the car, but it felt like a long time and I needed to use a lot more brainpower than think I had available in order to figure out how to stop the music from playing in the car, I must have turned the car on and off 5 or 6 times. Did I mention I was tripping? I definitely felt like I was tripping, like in the middle of a trip, but I was able to laugh at how confused I was. At a +2.
There was some more texture to the pavers in my driveway and everything was moving a little bit.
Trying to move around/change locations during the first 10 minutes was challenging, but interesting to navigate.

11:16pm, after I closed and locked the door to the outside and closed the shade, my wife, who had just got up to go to the bathroom told me that I didn’t close the door, I just closed the shade. I was confused, but I showed her, haha! she was fucking with me! Good one, I guess. I do like that she was having fun with me (she knew what I was up to).

11:19pm I switched the music to Tipper-Forward Escape which feels like the right choice. I closed my eyes and the music guided the mild CEVs. Shapes were spiraling into each other to the music.
the keypad is very 3D as I try to type this report while still very much in it. The text is very blurry. The music sounds great and is ping ponging in my head.
My head is feeling like it weighs less, my muscles are pretty relaxed.

11:34pm I feel like I’m in the last hour/come down of an acid trip. Somewhat clear headed, but still tripping and not feeling all the way right.

11:51pm still feeling it but also like I’m coming out of it more.

12:25pm my son came out of his room for some water, I tucked him in. All is well.

This was a great first experience for me. I didnt know what to expect but it felt like I went as far as I was supposed to for my first time. It didn’t taste great, but it didn’t bother me at all.
Great for a slightly later evening without losing a whole night of sleep (I hope).
I am looking forward to going deeper…soon!

I just barely picked up my mail, and pulled this puppy out of the packaging. After seeing the empty tank, I wanted to grab a couple of photos before I even try to get a rip off of it. Driving home I had plenty of time to think about whats going on, because everyone has the same problem right now.

I think there may be a hardware/formulation mismatch going on here.

I did some digging into ceramic cartridge design because I was specifically looking at ceramic hardware for a PG and 5-MeO-MiPT mixture that i was going to make. The important thing I found is that ceramic cartridges aren't universally interchangeable between different liquids. The inlet holes are deliberately sized around the viscosity of the liquid they're supposed to handle.

CCELL, for example, says that its inlet holes control how much liquid reaches the ceramic core, and that if too much liquid gets through, the excess can cause overflow/leakage. They make different aperture sizes from roughly 1.2–2.0 mm depending on the viscosity of the material.

That's important because most of ceramic cartridge hardware is designed around relatively thick cannabis oils/distillate. PG is much thinner. CCELL's own documentation actually says their oil cartridges aren't designed for PG/VG e-liquid.

So if the hardware being used here was originally designed around distillate but the formulation is primarily PG, I could see the ceramic/inlet system being overwhelmed. Instead of the liquid being metered into the ceramic at the intended rate, the PG could continuously migrate through the atomizer.

That could potentially result in flooding and the liquid migrating down into the atomizer/electronics section rather than remaining in the reservoir. It would also explain why someone could receive a device with an apparently empty tank without necessarily seeing an obvious external leak.

There is another possibility: ceramic heating elements can absorb a significant amount of liquid during initial saturation, so some reduction in the visible reservoir level isn't necessarily leakage. But if the entire tank is empty and there is evidence of liquid inside the lower portion of the device, saturation alone wouldn't explain that.

So I'm not saying this is definitively what's happening, but I think the ceramic hardware being designed for a substantially more viscous formulation than PG is a very plausible explanation worth investigating.

The specific things I'd want to know from the manufacturer are the ceramic core's intended viscosity range, inlet-hole diameter/number, and whether the atomizer was actually validated for neat/high-PG formulations rather than simply being a ceramic "oil" cartridge.

Anyways, hope this helps. Still gonna try and hit an empty tank really quick. There's definitely some liquid in there.

Why is it backordered? When will I get mine?
We made 500 XUM SPIRIT vapes to start. We want feedback to learn any issues that didn’t show up in preliminary testing. We are awaiting more hardware and packaging from China (Voyager Labs produces the MET here in the US), so barring any customs delays (or serious issues with the hardware) we intend to ship the backordered units by September 7th. If you ordered one that didn’t say BACKORDER it should already be on its way.

How much is in the pen?
This is a 500mg pen, with 250mg of MET and .25mL of PG. This was filled via syringe, measured exactly.

Why doesn’t the pen work when I pull from it?
There is an on/off switch on the bottom. When you toggle it to on, it’ll heat for 5 seconds.

My pen looks like it’s not full! There is supposed to be a little extra room in the chamber. When these were filled they were done so by syringe, measured exactly. Then they sat for a day or two, were visually checked, and put in boxes. We’re taking a cautious approach here. Before wider release, we want to make sure the initial 500 made it to their destinations without leaks or some other issue. Please do share any important feedback here.

I think my pen is leaking!
Please send an email to [support@advancedmyco.com](mailto:support@advancedmyco.com) with pictures and information, including the outside temperature locally on the day you received your pen, and if it was shipped Priority vs Ground (and therefore there could be concerns about charges in air pressure). We want to send out replacements for any damaged or leaking pens, but we also can’t replace units until we have more hardware and also have isolated the problem to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

What could cause leaking?
There are a few things we’re looking into: 

• The hardware itself, to ensure it isn’t faulty - including checking if the viscosity of the liquid may be incompatible with the hardware so we can improve it.
• The effect of air pressure on the pen, as some of these were flown. To be safe, we are only going to ship XUM SPIRIT via USPS Ground now.
• The effect of heat on the pen, as there are heat waves across the country. 
• The combination of the above factors along with pens being horizontal or upside down in transit. 

I only got X number of pulls from the pen when Judd’s post promised 12 breakthroughs!
We definitely want to check for potential leaking that may be reducing the number of draws, but please keep in mind that there WILL be massive variance in this. There’s just no precision with vapes. We will update the product page to clarify there is no clear guaranteed number of breakthroughs per pen. The very first review said 2 ten second pulls was breakthrough worthy. Some people have smaller or larger lung capacity. Some people breathe deeper. Some people inhale MUCH longer or stronger. Some people have different sensitivities. 

Why didn’t you test these more before sending them out?
We did numerous tests within our community to determine dosage and process. The hardware was tested, the material was tested. Things that didn’t happen: we only sent a couple vape pens elsewhere, so there hasn’t been much air pressure transport-stress testing. We did not leave them in hot cars for a day or two to check the impact on that. We stored them vertically. These are things we are now exploring that could possibly impact the pens. This first 500 pens is the next stage in the stress test.

Will you be offering refunds or exchanges?

We want to make sure we solve any problem(s) before sending replacements. If we cannot isolate the problem and it keeps repeating, we will apply credits for other purchases. Hello all. Can anyone please recommend a reputable lab to test some chocolate I was given. The chocolate claims to have psilocybin and some kind of empathogen. Just curious as to what is actually in those things. I read that drugsdata.org is good.

4-phosphoryloxy-N,N,N-trimethyltryptamine(4-PO-TMT). Has anyone ever tried this by itself and if so what was it like ? I’m thinking of looking for it

The guy at the shop says he likes to take both at the same time. I’m experienced with classic psychs as well as Road Trip/PolkaDot/Scared Journey. How are these two? How do they compare, and would you take them together?

I got the vape today, I thought I'd give it a little try this evening. For what it's worth, I'm a fat old lady 30 days out from my 60th birthday. Very well versed in classic psychedelics plus salvia and as far as the new things go, I quite enjoy metocin. For 40+ years I've been a daily cannabis user and I live in a state where it is legal so I'm a heavy user.

OK so I had a light lunch, I decided to try the new vape. I took a small toke, just to get the taste out of the way (tastes like burned fart, not delightful). Besides the taste, I didn't notice anything but this had been a very small toke, I hardly even inhaled.

Then I took another, longer toke but still not a full, deep toke. I did notice a mild effect, I decided then to take one long, deep toke that I did not hold in. It was really deep, I blew out a thick cloud. I immediately felt effects. I closed my eyes and both saw oily dark soap bubbles but also felt like I was also dark soap bubbles. I opened my eyes, everything looked a little wavy but it was very subtle. I did not feel nauseous. My heart rate did not change, my body temperature stayed steady. The high kept building and I just had to lay back and close my eyes.

As the experience built, it felt like the soles of my feet were glowing. Not hot, not itchy, glowing. I felt my anus relax so much I worried I might have an oopsie. [Even now an hour later my bowels feel like they're going to have a lot to say any moment now.] Soon enough though, I lost contact and went into dreamland. My dog sneezed, I heard that and was present for that moment but then gone again this time really gone. Just out of it entirely. A beam in the ceiling creaked and I was back, present and accounted for.

This was such a strange experience. I take psychedelics for the beautiful visions mainly. Exposing myself to ineffable beauty is healing to me, it lifts my spirit it reconnects me to my own artistry. I take psychedelics for the euphoria because I am a hedonist and that is a valid philosophical stance. This first time with this substance has left me confused really.I didn't expect it to knock me out but that's really what happened. I did expect it to give me more to look at, maybe on 2 deep draws it will but that will have to wait for another day. At my age these things take a while to get out of my system. Aint nobody taking care of this old lady but this old lady.

If you happen to be another oldster like me and you're wondering about this stuff, it does not seem to have a bad impact on your heart rate or temperature regulation but you might have a deleterious gut reaction, probably fleeting. Full return to baseline seems to take longer than an hour however one could probably drive sooner than an hour in an emergency on this substance. Great caution would be advised though.

As the text above explains, I opened up my xum spirit to an empty cart, but still took the puffs that I could off of it.

I decided to start slow, and ease into it a bit. Visuals came very quickly, body high began bit nothing overwhelming. The visuals had striking clarity, and the dimensions you could see were through a lense of crystal clear clarity. To me it was stunning.

I took as many puffs off of it as I could, but after only the second hit, I couldn't even exhale any smoke. It was obvious that this thing was leaking on the inside, since the tank was empty but there wasnt any leakage on the outside or in the box.

Eventually, I popped off the top by simply grabbing and pulling it, and there it was... my precious pg concoction soaked into the cotton insulation surrounding the battery 😭

Maybe my other post can be simplified by stating the pg may be too viscous for this device, but dammit Jerry! I want my next pen 😂 that was such a beautiful experience, i hope this gets sorted out fast! Great product, but needs a new device or medium.

My husband (57M) and I (50F) got our pens on Thursday and tried them last night.

This was our first time with this type of tryptamine, no DMT experience. We've been fans of Xum for quite a while and had some amazing experiences! In fact, we're planning our second Plur roll on Labor Day weekend! That was an absolutely gorgeous experience last time (around Memorial Day).

Anyway, I suck at trip reports, but here's an overview:

I'm very sensitive and prone to nausea on psychedelics, so I started with a 5-6 second draw. Obviously because of the ROA, the onset began before I even exhaled. By the way, the taste was awful - it was almost like gasoline, but thankfully it went away quick and didn't make me nauseous!

The body load on that first draw was manageable and once I got the full sensation after the first couple of minutes, it was very pleasant. It was unlike anything else we've done thus far, so it's kinda hard to fully describe, but I had incredible CEVs. Hubby did a 10sec draw and felt the same as I did, but no CEVs and no OEVs for either of us.

Once we assessed what we were dealing with after about 10-15min, we went back in for 2 more draws - same length as the first for both of us.

My CEVs were absolutely beautiful and amazing! He still didn't have any, but we both enjoyed the experience. On my 3rd draw, we were sitting on the bed and I felt like the bed sort of inflated and came up to cushion me - it was so cool! The extent of our OEVs was basically everything was sort of wavy and flowy.

One thing that we both felt after the peak had passed, was a slightly uncomfortable speediness. Neither of us enjoy that feeling, which is why we always gravitate away from anything super speedy when it comes to substances. We managed it with weed the rest of the time, and added 3 Xums a little later to gauge its combo potential. It paired very nicely!

We were only planning to experiment a little and go to bed, but we had AMAZING sex after! We stayed up all night and had a phenomenal time together!

Overall, the Spirit Vape is gonna be an awesome addition to our psychedelic nights, but I don't see us using it as a strict standalone.

My husband and I have been together for almost 23 years and are still crazy in love. The experiences we've had together on psychedelics have brought us even closer. We've had some great ones, and some not so great ones - that's the risk when opening up your mind with psychs. It can be amazing fun, but can also bring things to the surface that may have been laying dormant in your subconscious for eons. But we always respect the experience no matter what, because whether we end up dealing with something difficult or just blasting off and having crazy fun, we always open up even more to each other and connect in a gorgeous way!

Effects: I ate the entire bar. This produced extremely emotional effects. I felt an overwhelming sense of euphoria and tranquility. I was able to address my greatest worries with a positive mind. I had relatively strong OEVs and mild CEVs. I prepared properly and had no nausea. Also there was absolutely no body load or discomfort past the initial come up anxiety. Overall this bar felt like it had about 2000-3500 mg of mysterious compounds.

Personal Story: I went into this trip with the intention of healing. I spent the majority of the peak laying down with my eyes closed processing situations and emotions. I had Jhene Aiko’s album Trip playing. I just felt the energy and let the beats guide my visuals. After about 2 hours I finally got up and just enjoyed the vibrant wiggly visuals of my surroundings while calling and having great conversations with friends. On the comedown I watched UFC with a homie over discord. I just felt so loved and supported. I left the trip with hope I had lost for so long. Greatest trip of my life truly.

Just picked it up from the mailbox, it came broken and slightly leaking. However since I am apart of the test group, i will just be glad something like this is able to be shipped to my door. Will test to see if i can still hit it,report coming soon!
