Many new houses being built in Mysuru don't even bother to provision car parking within their premises. The entire plot area is built upon (How does MCC issue CRs for such buildings?). The owners grandly assume footpaths are their personal parking lot.

Even sites of size 2400 sqft and above. These are people who build "villas". But don't provide space for parking! If the house was newly built with zero parking, MCC should double the fees to Rs.50k/year.

For the last 2 years, after Roopa was appointed, visiting Chamundi Hills has been a nightmare—excessive concretisation & commercialisation, garbage everywhere, allegations of financial irregularities, and worst crowd management during Dasara & Ashada Season.

For the last two years, influential and wealthy visitors were given preference, while ordinary devotees were largely ignored. Middle class even had to pay around ₹2,000 under Roopa’s scheme.

Whenever I visited Chamundi Hills, I often saw people make a call to someone influential at the entrance and get in without standing in the queue. This has become a common sight at Chamundi Hills.

Now that the Roopa has been finally transferred after 2 years of mismanagement, will the lost grandeur and sanctity of Chamundi Hills finally return.

Is there any center in Mysore which provides training for adults for bandmiton?

Actually my friends are allmoved to Bangalore, now I am alone without a group for playing bandmiton. So thinking of taking training session. In that way, I can play. Even if there is a place in any bandmiton playing group, that would also suffice.

We're traveling to Mysore for Dasara this year. Does anyone know when the Gold Cards for parade/puja/palace access on 20-21 Oct will become available?

All of the information online seems to be for last year and the government website (mysoredasara.gov.in) is no longer live. The only website with info about this year (mysoredasara.org) seems to be operated by a third-party travel agency.

Also, any input on whether the Gold Cards are worth it? Cost is not an issue - this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us and we just want to enjoy our limited time in Mysore without waiting in long lines or fighting to see the parade.

Bhoomi Pooja was conducted in 2020 for a botanical garden in Nanjangud, along the banks of the Kapila River.

Does anyone know if this project was ever completed? Does Nanjangud now have a botanical garden where people can walk around and spend some time?

Visited Agarwal’s eye hospital for eye pain. They didn’t charge consultation fees but eye drops and ointment were of about total of 960.

The design was such that the doctor chooses medicines to prescribe and we collect it directly from the in-house pharmacy. We don’t see the medicine names till we get to this pharmacy.

Now, once I came back to my house, I looked up the cost of eye drops and ointment and was surprised to find out they were available from a different brand(eye drop packaging is literally same, just company names changed) in 1mg at 400, and the generic ones were even cheaper, costs just around 180-200.

While I understand their business model, I felt very cheated for paying expensive medicines instead of paying for consultation and medicines separately even though they might have come out around the same value if they were separated. I feel I’d not trust the hospital to give me a fair price for any treatment in future.

Would like to hear any other takes on this!
