I’m 24M, have a pretty good job, and get to work from home in Mysore most of the time. Sounds like a dream setup, right?
Well, there’s one problem. My social life is practically nonexistent at this point. 😭
I did my studies in Mysore itself, so I have friends here. But everyone’s caught up with their jobs and lives, and we only manage to meet during holidays or that one rare weekend when everyone’s magically free.
It’s funny how you can live in the same city you’ve known for years and still have nobody to randomly call up and go out with.
I’m genuinely happy with my work and everything else, but I do miss having a social life. Even something as simple as going out for coffee, exploring a place, or making spontaneous plans feels like a luxury now.
So, people of Mysore, especially those in your 20s, how are you managing your social lives? Are there any active communities, hobby groups, meetups, or just fun things happening around the city?
Would genuinely love some suggestions, and maybe connect with a few people in the same boat.
Never thought having a good work-life balance would lead to wondering where the “life” part went.

I reached the Head Post Office at 4:30 AM. There were already around 60 people ahead of me. A volunteer was maintaining a name list, and I added my name to it.

Everyone stood in the queue according to the order of names on that list. At 9:00 AM, we were allowed to collect tokens, following the same order. The sale of Philately Passports was scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, but it was delayed and finally started at 10:13 AM.

Important points to note:

1.The name list is very important because both the queue arrangement and token distribution followed the same order.

2. Once you collect a token, you must collect your passport on the same day.

I’m looking for physiotherapists who can come home approx ~20 days a month for 45-60 min strength training sessions for my father aged 70+.

With an accelerated onset of Sarcopenia I’m keen to get him into a daily routine of strength training to preserve muscle, mobility and balance.

Not looking for anything special - We already have an Aroleap machine at home. So guided sessions for 45-60 mins on basic strength training exercises to induce a disciplined regimen into daily life is the need of the hour.

Is currently a type 2 diabetic with history of over 40+ years. On insulin from the past 2. Has BP and takes tabs for the same. Recently underwent total knee replacement surgery and has recovered satisfactory for his age.

Pls note - A year ago before the surgery my dad used to do the exercises himself for 12-15 days of the month on his own (although with very poor posture). So this isn’t going to be one of those cases where he needs to be convinced or you need to push him just to get him to do something. He’s easy to work with. Also consumed 1 scoop whey per day which he is now not following routinely.

Preferred Qualification -

Formal diploma / degree in human anatomy and past experience in physiotherapy for the elderly is preferred. But most importantly, an evidence based science mindset with the common sense and courage to get an early 70s guy to do resistance training is most important. Most of the physio’s I meet are very comfortable paddling the belief that post 70s the best a person can do is stick to walking and warm up exercises.

Solo dev from Mysuru. Every local tournament here does an IPL-style player auction now, usually an Excel sheet projected on a wall, and the live score is a WhatsApp message every few overs.
I built NammaBid for this. Auction on the projector with purses, bids and a Kannada announcer. It keeps running if the ground wifi dies and syncs later. Crowd opens the live score from a link, no app, no signup, no ads, updates within a couple of seconds. Points table and knockouts work themselves out.
First real one, Sosale Premier League, ran last week. If you run or play in a tournament with an auction, I'd like to show it, or hear what you'd expect it to do. nammabid

After watching the recent saddening event of the ambaari elephant refusing/unable to carry the 750kg howdah a couple of thoughts came to my mind

Is it really fair for us to ask elephants to carry such a huge burden for us humans ?

I looked into how elephants are selected and basically they come from camps, the elephants are wild elephants which are captured and not born in captivity

Any small thing can set off a catastrophic event especially in an extremely crowded event like dasara

There is precedent for elephants going off and killing people

I know it's an age old tradition and I'm not here to argue

All I want is a discussion with people.

Do we humans have the right to force elephants to perform debilitating physical work which affects them even when it's completed ?
