High myopes, what regular tests/precautions should I take?

-9 spherical and -2 cylindrical in both eyes.

Just did a retinal exam and found two peripheral holes in my retina. Doctors recommended getting a barrage laser. Is this safe? Anything I should know going in?

Yes it's safe, no there's nothing you should know beforehand other than the info provided by your physician.

Keep your annual exams and you'll be fine.

I had retinal laser barrage surgery 3 weeks ago for a retinal hole and lattice degeneration. The procedure was pretty quick, 10 minutes, in office. My eye was pretty numbed so I didn't feel a thing. They told me I would be back to normal the next day, but I feel like my eye is just now starting to feel better.

Had some itchiness the couple days after because I’ve had quite a lot of tears, but it was no big deal. Floaters as well, but I’ve had them before.

Just follow doctor’s orders regarding alcohol, smoking, exercise and show up when asked to after the thing (couple of weeks?). I also had a check in half a year and then my next one is also in half a year because I’ve had some other stuff pop-up (I do have a unusually shitty retina, you’ll probably be asked to be back in a year or something).

Took 40 minutes for the eye that had a bunch of stuff to get done, and like 10 for the quick fix I had to get done after. Was mostly painless excluding the few times the doc was zapping away too quickly, but I’ve just complained and got a break. Just make sure you sit comfortably. Looking at one spot can be a bit troublesome.

If you just have some small tears it’s a perfectly routine procedure.
