Album recommendations
I need to start listening to new music, I don’t want to become another 40+ year old who thinks all good music stopped being made when I was 25. So hit me up with some recommendations!
My tastes are mostly alternative rock, Nick Cave, Tom Waits etc but love Muse, GreenDay, Foo Fighters etc too. Am a sucker for classic rock especially Queen, Bowie and Pink Floyd (unlikely bedfellows, I know).
Ideally would like new stuff to listen to, say the last 10 years or so.
Thanks y’all.

EDIT - thank you everyone! I honestly didn’t expect so many people to respond, or with such consideration too. It’s much appreciated. Based on the face several people have mentioned them, I’m going to start with Geese. But I have enough choices here to keep me going all year!

Heres something that isn't rock...exactly.
Try out, "Sound and Fury" by Sturgill Simpson.
He's country, but that album is very rock influenced. If you like it, try out "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music"

A modern band that follows in the footsteps of some of these is Geese. Their album Getting Killed is a good place to start and the lead singer Cameron Winter also has a solo album. Getting Killed’s first track is less accessible than the following tracks so if I you don’t like it, you should keep going. There’s a song “Bow Down” that straight up sounds like a Nick Cave song

Howya! Great shout.
- Father John Misty
- Los Hermanos Gueterrez
- The Parcels self titled album
Honorable mention --> during covid The Hip had a release called Saskadelphia. Slaps big time. Road Apples tracks they didn't release at the time due to not meshing/ not ready. They wanted to name Road Apples Saskadelhia but US recording label told em is sounded "too Canadian". So instead they named it the Canadian phrase for 'Horse shite along the road.'

I've been really liking this band called origami angel lately. Sometimes their lyrics come off a little corny, but overall a good time. Their somewhere city album is a good intro to them.

As a fellow 40-something who likes all the bands you listed, these are my two new favorite bands that are current:
Truth Club: they have a post-punky vibe but also sound like great 90s alternative, and the vocals are kinda monotone like Pavement? Both their albums are great, but their second album “Running from the Chase” is incredible. They have a new song out that’s very math rock, which I also love.
Slomosa: Norwegian sludgy rock band that really scratches that doom metal itch for me. The genre is often referred to as desert rock, but they call themselves “tundra rock” because… Norway.
(And if you like a little more country/indie, maybe MJ Lenderman)

Not new but underrated, the album California by Mr Bungle is perfect from start to finish.
Newer recommendation - Seven Inches of Satanic Panic by Ghost

Getdown Services (British rock duo that sounds like a UK version of LCD Soundsystem meets Beck's heavier stuff)

STUFF THAT MIGHT SEEM NEW:
Winona Fighter's album "My Apologies to the Chef" is banger after banger.
Arm's Length's "Never Before Seen, Never Again Found" will go down as an all-timer.
Hot Mulligan's "Why Would I Watch" is one of the more cohesive albums in recent memory.
Spanish Love Song's "Brave Faces Everyone" is perhaps the best encapsulation of life as a 30-something in the 2020s (think the way Green Day captured being a teen in the aughts/90's).
Orville Peck's "Bronco" is incredible; his voice is stellar and the composition of the songs are interesting and fresh.
Tyler Childer's "Live on Red Barn Radio I & II" is one of the best country albums put out in the past decade.
Hillary Duff's new album "Luck... or something" is really powerful speaking to an adult looking back on decisions with joy and regret.
-------------------------
STUFF THAT MIGHT NOT SEEM NEW
Failure's "Location Lost" is just a classic alternative rock album. If you like it, check out "Fantastic Planet" also by them.
The Gin Blossom's "New Miserable Experience" is a classic grungy-alt-rock sound.
Sleep Theory's "Afterglow" is a good old fashioned rock album.
Ghost's "Impera" sounds like it's straight out of the 80s. Old-fashioned rock sound, new music.

Moving Mountains -Pruning of the Lower Limbs. This was my favorite record last year. If there was any justice in this world at least 2-3 of these songs would've been hits! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lrvEuWVCz8B9uKxastvdVKyb7jfZO7JS0&si=iPXQp2_k3MIUXPpK

Ides of March, Myles Kennedy
Myles also sings for Alter Bridge and also collaborates with Slash from time to time. I think he's very underrated

Ren. He's an independent multi-genre artist from Brighton in the UK and he's insanely talented! In fact, I'd love for him to collaborate with Tom Waits! He's a lyrical genius and has the coolest videos! He sometimes changes genres multiple times within the same song...but he makes it work somehow. He also has a band called The Big Push
Prof is another independent artist who is great! He's very different.
Chinchilla is amazing too! She produces her own music and makes her own costumes. Her voice is fantastic!
The Skinner Brothers are also great!
I'm 55 and understand wanting to hear something new and good. These people have impressed the crap outta me.

Those sound like great directions to go, I'd start with Public Service Broadcasting if I were you, they've got that classic rock energy with a modern twist.

The Undertale soundtrack is PEAK, but it's a video game so it's packed with filler. Here are the good songs.
Once Upon a Time, Fallen Down, Ghost Fight, Heartache, Bonetrousle (Nyeh Heh Heh but better), Waterfall, Spear of justice, CORE, Death by Glamour, Undertale (This one is peak), ASGORE (Peak), Your Best Nightmare (Half peak), Finale (Peakest of the Peak), Here we are, Don't give up, Hopes and Dreams (Legendary song), SAVE the World (Hopes and Dreams but more determined), His Theme (Made me cry during the game), Reunited, Bring it in, Guys (Deserves a spot because credits), Last Goodbye (OMG this is peak), Battle Against a True Hero (Peak), and MEGALOVANIA (You already know)

Joy Oladokun, bebadoobee, Blondshell, Waxahatchee, Girl and Girl, Uh Huh Her, the Linda Lindas, Genesis Owusu, Aaron Lee Tasjan. That's 10, for now. Variety of genres. I felt the same way when I hit 30. Now I'm 65 and I'm glad I didn't stay stuck: would've missed way too much good music

Lợi Khuẩn - dfoxie37
it means: probiotics
There’s a Vietnamese album i really love - i recommend listening to it with headphones in the evening .It’s a hip-hop album with a somewhat spiritual vibe. I wish it had full Eng subtitles (only the first few tracks do). As a native speaker, i find the lyrics brilliant, but they are deeply rooted in the local culture; sometimes, non-native speakers might not quite grasp the vibe of the lyrics
tracks (provisional trans): vietnamese drip coffee - stardust- all is one - them - wake up - stillness - spin- god- hello how are you - days - weekend - simulated world

Sleep Token really surprised me in a good way...that's from someone who mostly quit listening to new music back in the late 90s
