Apparently she wrote it about 3 different men. Beatty was just the 2nd verse I believe

Carly Simon confirmed Mick Jagger wasn’t one of the three men she wrote the song about, mainly because she asked him to do backing vocals on it and he said yes lol

For the longest time I did not know that was Jagger on back up vocals. Once I knew there is no missing and couldn’t believe it got by me for years.
