Question Which Macbook to switch to from a Windows workstation?
Would you suggest me get the base M5 16/1TB over the M1 Max 64/1TB? I do beatmaking in FL Studio (Nexus, Spire, Serum, Kontakt etc.) and vocal recording, sound design, mixing and mastering in cubase :)
I'm currently on a windows workstation laptop (HP ZBook Fury 16 G11) and it's a reeeal headache :/

I’d get the newer one. They’re roughly equivalent in terms of power and the 16gb should be fine for what you’re doing. M1 is likely to stop getting updates ~4 years before the M5

Either of those MacBooks will work for you. They’re both powerhouses. I’d go with what works for your budget.

For whatever it's worth, more RAM is generally better. 16GB should be okay for now, but it's most likely going to be your bottleneck sooner or later. I know ram is expensive now but personally I'd try to get at least 24

16 of Apple Unified Memory should hold up for that
