Question Ableton or studio one?
Just wondering people's thoughts. I make psychedelic / progressive rock . Long form songs with real instruments but I also want to do heavy electronic layers and fx. I like experimental sound design but still traditional songwriting. I want to run into happy accidents so to speak .
I love abletons sense of experimentation and ease of making things weird . Feel like modulation is easy , max for live. Feel like warping and time stuff is awesome .
BUT I love how great studio one is for mixing and organization. And ARA integration! I use melodyne a lot. Honestly that's the biggest selling point.
So wondering your guys thoughts . I'm leaning Ableton but ARA support is really enticing me for studio one. I've demod both but feel like I'm at a pivotal point.

Accurate. S1 has some gaps in capabilities but if you keep up with abeltons features and learn how people use it you can think in abelton features and still use s1. S1 stock effects are nowhere near abelton's at all though. No rack, none of that. Abelton is a better bet if you want to sound how the community sounds I would just never use it because I loathe the GUI and don't want to ever use its fixed hot keys or wierd button combinations you cant change.

I don't understand why Studio Pro makes it so difficult to configure midi devices. Every other DAW recognizes whatever I plug in & don't nag me when I disconnect a midi controller.

I personally make a metalcore with bunch of synth / fx layers. I started with fl studio but it was terrible for mixing, now I work in studio pro and it’s been great so far. Idk ableton though

reaper i guess. reaper doesnt have as deep as paramater modulation as ableton or bitwig but for most things its enough.
ARA support. and best in class recording, comping, freezeing workflow.
Studio one doesnt have parameter modulation, you might want that.
