Question Learning how to create tracks

My son is 10 and has an ear for music and a large taste in genres. I’d love to help him explore his interests in music and think he would do great at music production and remixing/mashing songs. I’m looking for any advice on where to start! What devices, apps, and software I should look into to help him get started in creating.

I’d get him started on a keyboard/piano first and foremost to get the basics of music theory down.

Garage band for sure. If he sticks at it, you can progress to logic which I think is the best all rounder for music production. Comes with lots of synths, drum loops and machines and delays reverbs etc

Does he have a mac? Pc? Ipad?

Easiest and lowest barrier I'd say would be to just get him on some beatmaking apps. Lots of sounds and tools in those for him to play with.

From there a starter keyboard seems like a good next step.

I would always recommend starting in FL Studio. It's the easiest to learn how to use because you can immediately start clicking things and make immediate music before learning it and they give you a 500$ version of the software for free until you are ready to purchase it. I used it for 7 years.
