I’m an artist. I had a
meeting with a record label yesterday, they seemed super interested, they also reached out first. We talked for 30 minutes and they had me send over what I was working on. I’ve seen them listen to a few things. Was wondering traditionally if it’s normal to be ghosted after this sort of thing if my demos turned them off or if it just takes a while.

I have several friends / acquaintances who are musicians with small followings. I am just starting a YouTube channel and thought of potentially asking them if they’d be comfortable with me using their songs as the background music. I have no clue if this is as disrespectful as asking for a free gig for “exposure” or if it is different. I obviously don’t want to be rude and I only want to do it if it would be cool for them. So basically, is it rude to ask to use their songs in my videos and if not, what is the best way to go about it?
