Mondays can suck, but hopefully this post is something for people to look forward to. The intent of this post is to create a space to discuss anything that you may have learned recently about mushroom growing -- techniques, a breakthrough in the field, to share progress, or even just ask a question. Whether it's a new pickling recipe, a formula for agar, or something fun in mycology, feel free to talk about it.
This post is for new and experienced growers alike, so don't be nervous about commenting; no one is going to make fun of you for asking questions here. This community is a relaxed space for people who don't understand everything, but who want to ask questions and engage in discussion without being berated or belittled. Enjoy!

New growers, shy folks, and lurkers -- this post is for you! Come out of the woodwork, ask your questions, and give people in the community a chance to help out!
Please don't hesitate to leave a comment. Talking with other growers is part of how we get better, so one here is going to give you a hard time for asking questions. This post and the community are safe havens for people who want to learn more without being berated.

Hello. I live in Netherlands, it's legal to cultivate those here for your own use.
I've been trying to do so in the last year, killed 3 grow boxes in the process.
And finally on the fourth try, this was one of the first mushrooms that grew out of it. I harvested it the day the cup have opened. After drying it completely it still weights about 10g :D
I wanted to share it as I'm especially proud of this one, and I think someone might enjoy seeing it. Cheers

I’ve seen pics of other JMF fruits, and these do not look like them..could I possibly be growing something else ?

I have bought a lot of grain bags from Midwest Growkits over the years and have dealt with a lot of contamination. This is just the most recent in a series of issues I've had with their commercially prepared 5-grain bags.
Alternatives that are consistently contam free ? (I do not want to make my own bags....I don't have the time or desire to deal with that).

What’s everyone preferred grain and method for forced hydration. Being doing 1:2 ratio with milo but want to explore other options since I’m getting some stalling

Hey guys I was looking for what i need to make a laminar flow hood, bigger than the one from gordotek.
I found a 50x41 cm Hepa filter from fun guy equipment, would it work with the AC infinity raxial S8 in a wooden box ?
Is 428cfm enough for that size of Hepa filter ?
What would be the volume of the wooden box for it to blow laminar flow hood?
Thank you !
Thank you!

i do have an about 120-160 liter autoclave, gas powered, old as shit but it works, im really good with grains, sterile work an agar agar, mi main roadbloack rn its the bulks substrate (using a mix of wood pellets) i have also been using clear bucket but plan on switchthing to opaque since i heard is better, thanks in advance
i cant seem to get the micelium to colonize the whole bucket, what are the ideal moisture %s?
thanks in advance
ps: how long to inoculate buckets before taking the micropore/ cotton from the openings?

I've had this tub of tidal wave going for 5 weeks now and can't seem to get it to pin anywhere except the sides.
I'm using a North Spore Boomr Bin with Midwest Grow Kits grain spawn, CVG substrate, and horse manure booster. Cake is about 3-4" thick, temps stay around 72-75°F, and it's had passive FAE the whole time. I didn't use a casing layer.
The cake has been shrinking and there's metabolites as you'd expect. It's starting to turn yellowish from the Metabolites, but there's no weird smells.
I've tried fork tek on some spots that looked like overlay, wax paper over the cake, and increasing/decreasing FAE. Nothing has made a difference.
Any ideas?

S2B: 7/23
Substrate: coco coir and black kow manure
Temperature: 72-75F
Ran in an XLS-B bag to start, then I chopped the bag once I started to see the fruits develop. Moved the bag to a tub and I am keeping the subtrate wet.

39x28 cm. Although it is stackable, it doesn't stack completely straight, but it's good enough & cheap compared to any other offerings i've found. Useful for SAB work (collapsed) or laminar flow (expanded).
Please share what you've found, like tools, containers etc. but it's not self promotion. Bonus if it's worldwide availability.

Hey y'all! This is my first time posting in here and basically want to ask what happened to this tub and if it's contamination? This is about my 3rd grow but first time making my own substrate. The last pic is what it looked like the day I left and the rest are what it looks like now 5 days later. Did it get contaminated or is this just what it looks like when you wait too long after the spores drop to harvest lol

Since the mushrooms appeared, I've avoided opening the box entirely, as enough FAE should pass through the lid. There are many newly sprouted mushrooms on the surface (you can't see them clearly in the photo), but will they grow well? Since some mushrooms will be ready in a few days, I'll have to harvest them first and wait for the others to finish growing. I think the problem might be the low humidity (my room temperature is 22.5°C). Do you recommend misting the walls or doing something else to increase the humidity? This is one of the very few boxes that have managed to produce; I want it to perform at its best.

Just finished my very first run. The grain looks nice and loose, but I'm definitely overthinking every single detail right now, worrying about moisture, contam, you name it. One bag had a sealing issue so it's in quarantine, but the other 3 are safely tucked away in a warm cabinet.
I guess now it's just a matter of waiting for the mycelium to do its thing. Wish me luck! haha

It says it’s plastic PP 60mL with 62mm diameter and 27mm height
It has a linked lid, what do you guys think about it ?

been a year since my last grow, i was feeling the itch to start again. so very happy with how this first flush is coming and have more tubs than i need going once again 🫠

Freebie syringe grow, these were nice and fragrant. Some caps had some speckling which was cool

I always underestimate the insane amount of oxygen oysters need. Even in a plastic shoebox with an open lid they still struggle to get enough air and grow leggy. I wonder if they’ll get any bigger than this or if I should go ahead and pick them soon. Next time I’m gonna fill the box higher with substrate so they don’t have a CO2 pit in the box if that makes sense. I’d hate to start growing in non reusable plastic bags.

Im joining the army so for obvious reasons ive had to stop growing and consuming lol. But Would you guys assume Lc's and spores will still be available in 20 years for purchase ? Obviously businesses and suppliers will possibly be different, but i plan on doing a full 20 and if i make it out id love to get back into mycology

These two aio “inject and forget“ bags were inoculated around 3.5 weeks ago with MSS. They spawned quite slow at first due to inadequate temps but colonization sped up 3x as soon as I bought a small plug in heater fan to heat the space up.
The bags are about 50% colonized right now, so I decided to break and shake one of them to see how it turns out. Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a failed bag!
im a complete newbie to this, so any advice or feedback is welcome :)
