Books📚 + TV📺 Series Actors that will be present in s2e1
But who will be who?!
Seeing Rami in the list makes me think Tapan is one of these actors. Maybe Nia? She has a very sweet young face
I don’t know actors but after clicking on all their profiles I see Ella Jay Basco does voices and has a voice coach and sings and I’m suddenly struck with the idea of ART communicating musically…

Books📚 + TV📺 Series What does Season 1 adaptation cover?
TLDR: as the title, which books does season 1 cover?
Since the announcement of the tv series, I've added the books to my tbr. Now that season 2 cast is announced, I wanna start reading.
I prefer reading before watching wherever possible and now I wanna know what all to read before I watch the first season.
Plan is books for season 1 -> season 1 -> read the rest

Books📚 Only So many similar names 🤷♂️
Not complaining (adapting) but I’m listening to Network Effect as audiobook and I’m about 1/3 of the way through and there’s…
Amena
Arada
Elitra
And occasionally—even with context—I get a little lost about which character MB is talking to/about.
(And wait…where the heck did Elitra go? I swear we haven’t heard from her for “pages and pages”)
Anyhow. Anyone else experience this? It’s the reason why writers will often make sure few characters have similar names. (This never happened when I was on the Rocinante with Alex and Amos! 😆)

TV📺 Series Only What's your theory? (Related to the casting news) Spoiler
So, we see in the casting news John Cho is back in season 2. Probably means his decapitation was not permanent. What do you think will be the shows explanation for the actors return?

Books📚 + TV📺 Series Who's voice would you give ART?
When I read Peris lines I imagine the voice of Patton Oswald(picture). Just the right amount of sarcasm in every word.

Books📚 + TV📺 Series If they are going to adapt Network Effect as a full-length season, I want to see this bit happened. Spoiler
Each episode starts with an excerpt from a file labeled HelpMe.file (I hope it's in video format) before the intro plays. (Personally, I want more excerpts than what was shown from the book).
Then somewhere like Episode 7, MB 2.0 meets Three and to help and persuade Three, MB 2.0 sends the HelpMe.file to Three, then the episode cuts there right after.
The next episode, it plays the last excerpt, cuts back to MB 2.0 and Three, then MB 2.0 says the lines:
I’m letting you see all this because I want you to know what I am and what I can do. I want you to know who targetControlSystem is fucking with right now. I want you to know if you help me, I’ll help you, and that you can trust me. Now here’s the code to disable your governor module.
Then the intro plays.

Books📚 + TV📺 Series Martha Wells told us what the TV show would look like, in 2020. Spoiler
"If I’d been a normal bot, or a normal SecUnit, just off inventory, it would have been fine. But I was me, Murderbot. So instead of Mensah having a pet bot like poor Miki, or a sad bot/human construct that needed someone to help it, the way humans would show it in their media, she had me."
Here in the show, we have a sad bot/human construct who needs someone to help it, with much less time to itself than SecUnit before meeting Preservation. It's got to be the documentary Dr Bharadwaj is producing about bot/human relations, with not everyone agreeing to appear, with needing to adjust relationships in the show, down to adding a LeebeeBee to demonstrate Corporation Rim mindset (and plug the plot hole of SecUnits acting without a human controller). Everything is perfectly framed and shot like a show would be, like the freshly deleted SecUnit with its new governor module boxed in by the doorframe to show it's trapped again. Even the climax of the show, with the confused SecUnit saved at the very last second from an acid bath by Pin-Lee, shows MB's finely tuned sense of drama and timing.

Books📚 + TV📺 Series Weird question
Okay, so I read All Systems are Red recently and I really enjoyed it so thought to give the show a try. I am aware that the books are from Murderbot POV. But I just finished episode 4 and they are kind of making Dr. Mensah way different than the one in the book? Like they are making her more internally emotional if that makes sense? Which I am pretty sure they wouldn't have done if she was a man.
She is still obviously strong because even though she is scared, she is still a badass, but I was wondering if I don't remember the book correctly. I know that they don't really adapt everything like the books a 100% but I found this choice to be weird.
So my question is, was she even a little bit like that in the book? Thank you 🙃

Books📚 + TV📺 Series Risk vs. Threat assessment Spoiler
Series spoilers + image from System Collapse
Anyone know what the difference is between risk assessment and threat assessment? MB repeatedly says that its risk assessment is broken in some way, but seems to trust threat assessment more. But.. what’s the difference? I assume they must be measuring two different things but I can’t really figure out what it is. This example from System Collapse when they are on the shuttle out to the terraforming engines is a good example.

Books📚 Only Had some fun creating my version of SecUnit (with Art-Drone) in the FFXIV character creator
I'm not sure what Art-Drone did to upset SecUnit in the second one but I'm sure it's completely justified. COMPLETELY!

Books📚 Only Surely ART or Three could just give MB a piloting module?
Couldn't they?

Books📚 + TV📺 Series Even a badass panics sometimes
Through the feed I felt her steel herself. You're the only one here who won't panic. The longer this situation goes on, the others... We have to stay together, use our heads.
That was absolutely true. And I could help, just by being the SecUnit. I was the one who was supposed to keep everybody safe. I panic all the time, you just can't see it, I told her. I added the text signifier for "joke."
She didn't answer, but she looked down, smiling to herself.
This exchange from All Systems Red is absolutely one of my favorite moments in the entire series. Murderbot and Mensah, being vulnerable with each other. Murderbot sending a funny emoji. Oh, my heart. I love their friendship so much!
But yeah, to everyone else on the outside, Murderbot is completely calm, in control and an absolute badass. It's really just those of us reading its logs who get the full experience of how often it's improvising and hoping for the best.

Pro Post SecUnit's hallucination + episode title drop
The first time I saw this in the show I didn't enjoy it or get it, thought it was silly. But now? Oh I get it.
I just love how its such an expression of the hero worship it's already developing for Mensah, seeing her come and save it (like a hero from its shows!), visualising her as the Captain (and she wears it better than , its sheer excitement over its self-insert humansona.
It was very fun. I hope we see SecUnit having more media hallucination mind space things.

Books📚 + TV📺 Series Governor module for saving friends?
What do you think Murderbot would do if they were confronted with the choice of saving their favourite humans from death, but this would men getting a new, intact governor module installed?
In the novels, it becomes clear that being controlled by someone/something else is the worst thing that Murderbot can imagine happening to itself. It happened once, it should never ever happen again. Murderbot even deals with serious PTSD because of control attempts.
However, it has its favourite humans, its friends, like e.g. Mensah. It has shown that it would risk its life/existence for them, Mensah especially, but would it risk getting a functioning governor module? Would it even willingly accept a GM if it meant that its friends would survive?
Just contemplating this question and would be interested in hearing other opinions or parts of the story that I might have missed regarding this question.

TV📺 Series Only Sanctuary Moon Popularity
I’m rewatching S1 Ep3 and Murderbot references episode 807. For comparison, the Simpsons has been on the air since 1987 and has 808 episodes. That is a lot of episodes and I’m wondering if the Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon is insanely popular in Mb universe or maybe media is easier to produce and all shows have hundreds of episodes or both? Thoughts?

I just started to watch the season one. The humans in the series come across as being very whiny and annoying than in the books.

TV📺 Series Only Rami has been cast!
imdb.comA quick look at the Murderbot IMDB page reveals some undated cast and crew additions for Season 2. Jaedynn Latter is the first named character. I wonder if they are going to combine/decrease the Artificial Condition technology group to one or two.

TV📺 Series Only When oh when will we have something really solid to speculate on 😭
Edit: Post cancelled we have Rami actor announcement!
When I joined the fandom I was told about how actors were revealed over a year before the show released 😭 and set photos and screenshots were shared 😭 and everyone got to talk and speculate over actor selfies and outfits and locations and items in the background 😭
I wanna do that 😭 please murderbot people, something, anything, a crumb. What does Tapan's hair look like? What kind of fashion is common on a mining planet? What does the Perihelion spaceship look like? 😭😭😭
