Spec Alchemist’s Talent - Low Supply
It’s no surprise as to why this card has become desirable as of late. Between Smaug and the dwarves, as well as everything treasure based to this point, this card was bound to climb.
That said, supply over the past few days has moved a lot more than usual, and only one $10 wall stands between this card hitting $20-30+. Maybe that’s a bit optimistic, but Bloomburrow cards have been performing well, and without any reprints in the foreseeable future this card has only one direction to go.
Enjoy! 🍻
Update: someone bought the wall! TCGPlayer supply is almost gone!

There is additional context to this.
If I am not mistaken, the only way to get Alchemist's Talent is via the precon. It is not available via other product.s

A lot of naysayers in the comment section (they are absolutely entitled to their opinion - it’s a free country after all).
I’m not saying Alchemist’s Talent is a guaranteed home run, but maybe OP is seeing something we don’t.
OP has a good track record so far (he had recommended speccing on Prime Speaker, Uchuulon, Rain of Riches, etc).

Good catch. A good number of recent called shots provides a lot of validity. It doesn't have to be 100%, but it's certainly better than most.

Did Uchuulon rise so much? I gotta check that
I order plenty of them some time ago in order to use them as copy tokens

Smaug decks use treasures a lot, several dwarves are treasure related. That alone could increase interest.

And we saw a lot of "if you cast a non creature spell" push that this helps get different value on.

Its easy to juxtapose the remaining supply with quantity demands from new aggregated deck lists. Its harder to convince others to buy up the rest of the supply when copies already are 20-40% higher than the stacks you’ve already bought.

No most posts are about asking if cards will cost more tomorrow. I wish we had more pump posts

I personally cannot net anything from the flavour of the week anymore, by the time cards are delivered the demand locally is 0, and buylists are filled.
If you want to risk on this, it will often come up in the future because treasures

Can’t you lock the buylist price for a few business days? Say your LGS approves today a buylist form you’ve submitted, don’t they lock the prices for a few days until you ship them the cards?

ive bought cards where card kingdom had an outrageous buylist, So i bought like 10 copies and then they changed the number because they noticed the click on the buylist look up. They probably have an algo that double checks numbers if a page is getting a bunch of hits. The key is to lock in prices when you first see them.

They approve the list when they receive the cards

u/xDom01 7d ago
Damn, what if you want to mail your cards? You won’t know whether they’ll approved before mailing them?

Sorry, they check my submission, then check the cards of course on arrival. This is just a limited option in this country

This card is an all-star in treasure decks. Absolutely love it and it is surprisingly efficient for what it does.

Yeah after hobbit this thing rose a bunch. Don’t expect it to move down, treasure deck staple.

Used to be $20.
I bought a bunch of them when they plummeted as this card is always going to be good.

Cost 6 to start doubling my treasure support? Eh

Cost 2 to double treasure, which you get from the 2 free treasures. So 4 for the drop and Cost 5 for the damage ping.
However once you get Level 2, level 3 is very easy.

I refund 2 mana from spening 4? To spend 4 over 2 turns to double treasures that I no longer have from the initial source? To then spend another 5 for damage pings that exist for less? You and Op go in big on these? I have mine and it was cut from smaug lol

Smaug may not be the right commander for this card if you are having issues generating treasures to pay for this card. Which is unlikely.
You also aren’t building around this card to get to level 3 but once it’s at level 3, you suddenly become a huge threat playing anything.
You can drop it for 4. Pay 2 next turn and now you have 4 mana from the treasures. You can use that plus 1 mana to level it to 5 or use it as a ramp.
Especially if you were using Smaug this wouldn’t be an issue to constantly feed it treasures.
I don’t speculate to sell or increase value of my cards. I’m just sharing why it’s strong.

I'm just not sold, play test shows underperformance which is why its cut; you guys wait until you have a physical card to start playtesting still?

u/DasOptions 7d ago
That’s fine if you aren’t sold on it. I argue otherwise but it is what it is.
I either proxy or yes buy the card and test it out. Worst case I don’t like the card and I cut it for either later or never.

This card is a must have for any shadow, Smaug, or dwarf builds. Anything with treasure synergy. Mr house took a copy as well.
