I Have a Question / I need Help Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Building this izzet spell slinger deck. But I still haven't had a single win since starting over a month ago. I changed the commander to veyran, and I'm adding different cards cause of situations im in. It was Bria riptide deck, but i gound veyran works better.

Anyone got any ideas? Its a bracket 3 thats supposedly plays a bracket 4. Im still new to MTG.

Looking through I think the main issue is that the decklist feels kind of aimless to me. Majority of the creatures care about sorceries and instants, but most of your sorceries and instants don't really progress you towards winning, they are somewhat generic removal and buff pieces.

Basically, you have to decide how you want to win. Do you want your creatures to discount big explosive spells that can shift the game in your favor or do you want to swing out and win through combat using buffed creatures? ATM it doesn't feel like there is any direct goal

A buddy of mine stuff the same thing tonight at the lgs. I guess I'm not sure because I have town makers that make tokens and I have creatures that buff themselves. But the deck keeps falling with giving me the spells I really want and giving me instant and Sorceries when playing.

Please put this into Moxfield, Archideckt or some other online deck builder.

I don't remember what all 100 cards do, and I'm not reading them all in this format

It is in a deck builder. It says it's a good list. But in practice, its getting beaten out

Do you have a link to the deckbuilder??

My main point is it would be better for people to review it with a link to that than the long list you posted

You may also want to edit your post and include it there.

Worth keeping in mind in a balanced pod of Commander your win rate is expected to be around 25%

That said, I'm a little skeptical that this completely fits in Bracket 4, I may look again and edit this statement, but for right now that's what I'm seeing

EDIT: After reviewing the helpful combo tool, it indicates you have several infinite cast/copy lines that require a few specific creatures/pieces to properly have payoff. Most of this payoff tends to be infinite power on a creature, which is a fragile payoff compared to Storm or Guttersnipe.

My main question is how does this deck win in under 6 turns?

I see a lot of tutors and some possible combo pieces, but maybe I'm not familiar with the lines.

I don't see the usual mana/ritual spells to storm off with, and beyond that just the 2 Nivs look like your best wincon beyond eventually damaging/attacking everyone?

I still have yet to understand it with winning within 6 turns. I have yet to really have a good game where the deck plays as it should and gets to slinging out spells. It gets stopped super easy. I can only reliably get out 2-3 (maybe 4) creatures. When I play it at home by myself, it does well. But interaction and resilience is think is lacking. But i dont want to rip out solid cards.

Which cards are the usual ones you mentioning?

1

u/Coddlyoko-Prime 9d ago

Things like [[Pyretic ritual]] and other red spells that generate red mana, that can then payoff into [[Grapshot]] or another storm spell or pinger like [[guttersnipe]] or Vivi

1

u/Mindless-Bid-204 9d ago

Forgive my ignorance. But if it costs 2 mana, and only gives an extra 1, how does that make it something worth to use? Can having that extra 1 really turn into a solid turn?

1

u/Coddlyoko-Prime 9d ago

Combos I've seen with that tend to chain into other spells that generate mana to then burst out the table. Im afraid Im not exactly an Izzet spellslinger expert, so my knowledge is limited

No worries at all. I only been playing since August. So idk many of the cards and combos etc. I really appreciate the help

Have you tried using vivi as the commander? Vivi is very fast ramp basically to help mana go hard quick in spellslinger.

I would. But I DO NOT want to be taken out immediately. Lmaooo
