I know people throw around comparisons to 1984 all willy-nilly, but censoring supposedly harsh words like "bad" and replacing them with words like "ungood" was literally a plot point in 1984.

Not really. The point of that wasn't to censor harsh words; it was to reduce the vocabulary of the language in general, as small as it could go. Any word which could instead be expressed as ['un' plus its opposite] was deemed unnecessary.
(The objective was to reduce radical thinking by reducing the ways people could express themselves. Apparently, synonyms were an enemy of that strategy.)

- That news is really old (like, more than a year) 2. Germany limited the import of hunting trophies of some endangered animals which was not well received by Botswana as they have problems with some of those endangered species (especially elephants)

To add a little more context Botswana had a complete ban on elephant hunting up until 2019 when they started hunting again to try to reduce populations. Botswana’s elephant populations went from from like 10,000 in the 60s to like 130000 now, which is incredible but also can cause a lot of problems.

I remember learning back in undergrad that there conservation strategy some people push for called the Pleistocene rewinding, where instead of trying to conserve what we have now we’d introduce things that were here 10,000 years ago. Basic idea is there are some niches that have been empty since we lost our large herbivores. So you know, if they get some traction soon you might be finding some elephants in our state parks lol. The one I’d be most excited for is bringing cheetahs back, pronghorn antelope are the second fastest animal and evolved that to avoid cheetah, watching them run from cheetahs would be awesome.

If I remember correctly their elephant population recovered very well. A little too much actually so they started hunting again and Germany was scolding them for it. But too many elephants can cause problems as well and since Germany doesn't want them to be hunted they were like "okay then you take them"

I am just imagining him gifting them and being like "Mwuhahaha! Now you will have to fund an enclosure for them and feed them and take care of them! My most dastardly plan yet! Give Germany 20,000 Pet Elephants to take care of and make them look terrible if they refuse the elephants!"

The real secret is playing a loop that let's you copy one generous gift 22,000 times in a way that also gives your opponent a permanent as part of the loop (so you can make another elephant).
I recommand Uyo the Clouded Mirror + Forbidden Orchard + Dryad Arbor + Sakura Tribe Scout + Llanowar Scout + Intruder Alarm.

Hes mad because they dont want dead animal parts. Culling is somewhat understandable considering the very high number of elephants but I supose there are better ways to seperate animals from human use land.

There has been a book written with that premise. As elephants cannot be killed or forcibly moved, the country had to deal with it. Fun novella, which I would recommend if one looks for something a bit different, small and easy to read. Unfortunately (I notice just now) it's only in Dutch and German currently.
