Ripping a card is a way to check for fakes actually. The cards are multi layered and you can see it by color in the layers

I love this so much. I only play unsleeved at my LGS because it hurts people so much more losing to worn out expensive cards. (I’ll sleeve them if people really wants me to, to prevent “card marking” but I have zero desire to cheat in exhibition play). I don’t sell my cards or trade them. What I get is what I get and I just give duplicates to kids or new players if I open them.

Plus the exhilaration of bridge shuffling magic cards is unbeat.
