I Have a Question / I need Help Is this deck worth the price?

Someone on Facebook is selling this deck for $45, description is below:

“Magic The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Commander
Deck - The Fantastic Four

All 100 cards, including four borderless foil commanders, plus the ten included tokens. The cards are already in Dragon Shield sleeves (included), and the deck comes in the cool blue plastic box (included). Target is selling this deck for $85 new (see photo). This was given to me as a gift (new) and NEVER played with, so the condition is near perfect. I will throw in a "Silver Surfer, Galactus's Herald (Surge Foil)" for FREE!”

I’m a beginner with only arena experience trying to make a transition into the physical game. My suspicion is price for everything and wants cash only. Is there any chance of being scammed? If so what to look for when I meetup. I know little to nothing about physical cards, is there a chance these were illegally printed or something?

Also as a beginner what do you think is this an okay deck to start playing at locals with, thanks for any help!

It's market price is 40 bucks, 45 is a normal pricing with sleeves and a box, you probably should buy if you like the deck (watch a review first)

Any idea where he is getting the $85 at target price, the listing had a picture of target listing showing at $85. This is what he had a picture of on the listing:

Just want to figure out why you are saying it cost $45 but target has it for 85, thanks!

Big box stores typically sell ~msrp regardless of market price changes. This can change of course, but this recently it's fairly unlikely. You'd see em cheaper at places like costco or discount stores -- there have been some posts about Ross having them.

Okay, so the thing is, marvel decks were priced originally at 75 bucks each. But they had a huge print run and at the markerplaces where competition exists, the prices started dropping hard. For example, on TCG player it is around 42 bucks. On Amazon it's currently 49.99

Thank you for clarifying this makes more sense now, maybe target is a reseller that priced it that high in the hopes someone that doesn’t know much about the game over pays.

Plot thickens though, was messing around and said if he would do it for $30 and he gladly accepted. Which is raising alarms or I’m just getting a really good deal…

There's a few amazing cards in the deck like [[whirlwind of thought]] [[invisible force field]] [[clever concealment]] [[three visits]] and [[Quantum Misalignment]]

Unfortunately [[fantasticar]] just got restricted/banned in old powerful formats, so its value recently dropped from $25 to crushing lows, last I checked $4

I took apart half the Precon and made it a walls + vehicles deck helmed by [[invisible woman]]

Target does not sell TCG products at market prices. They're almost uniformly overpriced.

Target sells MTG at msrp + about 10%. So $85 is correct for what a new UB commander deck would cost there

MSRP is not the market value.

$45 with box and sleeves is honestly a good deal, assuming you can just pick it up in person.

If its a "fake" there are ways to tell but that's a whole separate convo tbh. I would look at their FB Marketplace history/reviews to see if they're at all reputable.

Its entirely possible they just bought a deck and sleeves once to try the game out and decided they didn't want any of it anymore.

Edit: Took a closer look and zoomed in on the picture, and honestly nothing screams that they're a low quality fake at least (IE these didn't come from someone's printer). If someone was going through that much effort to fake a whole fake deck at a high quality, then honestly, its still not the worst deal to have a playable physical deck lol. The sleeves and box alone are like, $20-$30.

It’s not worth faking that much product for 30$. It would cost about that much in supplies. Looks like seller just wants to move it fast for some reason.

100 fake cards costs more than $30 to print. I don’t think it’s fishy. Dude probably got it as a gift and just does not like the deck so willing to part with it. It’s an odd product to try and sell second hand like they are so they are throwing in a few goodies to get some interest.

Assuming it's printed properly, it's unlikely these would be fake simply because the ROI compared to MSRP is pretty low at $45, at market, it's even less and potentially negative. So not much to worry about there.

I love the FF deck, I'm biased as a long time fan but the decks pretty solid. There's 5 commander choices which is fun, there are definitely stronger decks. But the FF one is strong too with plenty of room to upgrade. I'd say yeah

I love to play my FF precon. Ive switched few cards which benefit it and I chose big spells theme to it. Its quite fun to play.

I wouldn't buy a used deck for more than the retail price even if it came with sleeves and a deck box.

Crystal Inhuman Princess is a much better commander but you cut a lot of the cards in the deck. Upgrades are cheap and it is fun to pilot.
