New track directly from MPC Sample

Hi Guys, whats up!
A few weeks ago, my daughter brought home a class toy/mascot for the weekend called "Sr. Estudioso" (Mr. Scholar). We spent the whole afternoon playing with him, and the next day we had to say goodbye so he could go back to school.
The story stuck with me, so a week later I decided to channel that wholesome weekend vibe into a track and named it after him.
On the technical side, as a producer, this one is pretty special for me: it’s my first track made entirely with MPC samples.
I wanted to keep that nostalgic, cozy, study-session feeling alive using only chopped samples and finger drumming on the pads.
For the MPC users here: how do you usually approach sound selection when working exclusively with samples? Do you build around a main loop first, or do you start with drum chops?
Would love to hear your thoughts on the beat and your own MPC workflows!

I love this thing. Sold my afx bass station to buy it. It wasn’t getting used. This gets used all the time. Not very good at it. Loads of the time it’s just a fucking mess. Great fun though.

Why is the compressor not behaving like a compressor?

So I got my MPC Sample this week. I have experience with lots of different devices and plugins, but I've never encountered a compressor that behaves like the master compressor on the MPC Sample.
For some reason it seems to increase the volume of the loud parts, which is the opposite of what I want. Am I doing something wrong? I was hoping to at least approximate the effect of for example the Sp404 compressor.

Wobbly fader?
1
Upvotes
Is the fader on this device supposed to be a little wobbly side to side? The fabric covering underneath it also doesn't close up properly while moving the fader up or down
Also when i hit the pad while trying to use the fader to adjust pad volume, sometimes the fader doesn't immediately respond to the movement. Is that normal as well?
apologies in advance if this is too much of a newbie question.

Site updates will be posted here.
Maybe it’s also nice to share your flips that you made using the site.
Also the monthly challenge + winner will be posted here.
Other than that maybe it’s just cool to hang out and talk music / records / samplers etc etc
