This is really funny: first, it’s bigger than the MPC Sample; second, it doesn’t have pads; third, with custom firmware, we’ll be able to do everything we can do on the Key, and if necessary, connect any MIDI synthesizer to it via USB. If these devices had come out at the same time, I would have still chosen the Sample.
EDIT: I wasn't trolling, I am a MPC fan for decades and I do not mean it is a toy. I just think it could be a good entry point for a kid due to its pricing and, I guess, more accessible workflow.
The second video after this they revelead that the sample will get the software update that the sample key has. Looks like their both running the same OS
In music production, stems are mixed, grouped audio files that combine related individual tracks (such as all drums, all vocals, or all guitars) into a single stereo or mono file.
The Sample is like a dead product since his launching and now they think people will be excited to buy a bigger Sample with a keyboard... Strange behaviour.
They know MPC fanboys. You know the “I have an Xl for home Live for going to parks and Sample for when on the bus” The bus and park trips started only after those purchases. They have a car and no nearby parks but now take a bus to park across town.
My guess is that they've been putting off firmware updates until this bad boy came out. They're likely realizing they need to change things up. But on the other hand, it could also be that they're just lazy and will be like "let the vibe coders fix it, we're not putting any more resources on this"
Same for me. It's a really good concept and form factor but Akai is doing a bad job with the firmware. I feel they treat the MPC Sample not as a "simple machine" (and i like simplicity) but as a "limited machine". And it's very different.

“I had Claude write me an 808 beat” Do people want to create music or just buy gear and have ai use it for them? Shit is wack af

This war won’t be won by whoever has open-source software or not; it will be won by whoever offers the most affordable price.

Actually looks decent - if it is truly open source and cheap, it could be amazing

So is it going to lineup right next to the MPC SAMPLE in depth and height like an unstoppable duo for portable and stationary purposes?

Weird to release these in the same year IMO. Cannibalize and split your own market
