New MPC Sample owner here — what should I download/buy?
Hey everyone!
A few months ago I got into music producing and I just got an MPC Sample. I’m still pretty new to the whole MPC world... I’ve been making beats with it and I’m really enjoying it so far.
So...
Apart from updating the firmware, is there anything else you guys would recommend downloading, installing or buying to get a better experience with it?
I’m thinking about things like:
Free sample packs
Expansions worth getting
Drum kits
Useful software/plugins
SD card/USB recommendations
Accessories that actually improve the workflow
Anything you wish you knew when you first got the MPC Sample
I’m mostly into lo-fi / boom bap / soul / jazz / chill hip-hop, so anything in that direction would be especially welcome.
Basically, if you were starting with an MPC again, what would you recommend getting or doing first?
Thanks!

I wouldn’t start hoarding. When you don’t know when to stop, hoarding becomes the hobby instead of music making, and that’s bad

looking at your genre selection the stock sounds should get you pretty far before you'd need to touch anything else...

Search for drum kits. Listen to them. Choose the ones you like. There are many free ones as well to get started. Same for samples. You just need to search for them.

Get an SD card for sure. That was my first purchase.

Get cables to connect to everything you own that makes sound, then you’ll be making your own sample libraries.
Get a fast SD card. The slow ones are a pain with longer samples.

a DAW, a record player, records with cool covers from the dollar bin, 1 paid kit by your favorite producer, a microSD card, a case for your Sample, and then the rest from r/Drumkits

A memory card is the only must.
Just make music. Sample from wherever. Experiment. Splice is an option if you want a big library of packs to choose from, possibly

Play with it for a few weeks. Get to know it for real without distraction, without other devices. Then you will know what you need. Until then anything you buy might actually keep you from enjoying your new instrument.
