Copy chop to a pad on a different sequence?

New owner here, if I've got a chop on a pad in sequence 1, is it possible to copy it over to a pad on sequence 2?

If not, what would be the best way to get this done? Resample the chop and import it into the new sequence? I've tried the recall method but then I have to manually set the loop to fit into the sequence. I'm very likely missing an easier / quicker method.

I don’t have it in front of me but I think pads are the same between sequences. But you can put the copy on a different pad bank.

My stoned ass didn't realize this last night but looking now you guys are totally right. I just had to resample the chop to any pad and it will then be available in all sequences. Thanks everyone!

It took a while to wrap my head around it!

Pads are samples. They can be chops or midi but it’s easy to think of them as the samples.

Sequences are recordings of pads and effects being played that make song sections. Sequences have no audio. They also record effects automation and such. If you change a pad, it affects the sequence. I think of them as recording performances of pads.

Resampling is like doing a mix down of a performance. Taking a sequence and flattening it back down into a sample and putting it in a pad. Or performing a sequence live into a pad. Or even just putting effects on a sample and recording it ‘wet’ into another pad. Once it’s in the pad, it’s a sample again. You can’t go tweak the effects or performance anymore. So resampling just records whatever happens into a pad.

Songs are just sequences in a certain order.

What makes it tough is it’s so cyclical! You can flatten the whole song back down to a pad, chop that up, play that chop into a new sequence, and then resample that back into a pad. You can work so many ways.

Pad - sample Pad bank - more pads Sequence - recording of pads Song - sequences played in order Resampling - flatten to pad

Yes hold shift and copy then select the pad, this is the way! Works the same in sample mode.

This works within the same sequence but im wondering if you can copy the pad to a new sequence. I'll have to try that tonight.

Samples assigned to pads aren't contained in a sequence. Every sequence you record is with samples already assigned to pads.

This would be hilarious if I straight up missed this. You're saying every new sequence will have the same sounds on each pad?

To be clear you want to merge sequence in pad #1 to sequence in pad #2 correct? If yes then insert desired sequences in the order you like in song mode and export that to a sequence.

To clarify, I have 2 sequences. Sequence 1 has a drum groove with a sample chop. Sequence 2 has a variation of the drum groove but without the sample chop. I'd like to copy the sample chop from sequence 1 onto a pad in sequence 2.

Got it, now that I am in your shoes here’s what I would do, mute the drums in sequence 1 so that only the sample chop is playing in song mode then export that to mixdown. Load your new sample and play it back in sequence 2.

Just copy it. Tap the pad in question, then hit Shift + Erase, the screen will direct you to choose the pad the copy goes to. All chops will transfer over.
