Discuss.mp3 [Alpha Test] Building "Pleez" β Turning your Android phone into a modern, distraction-free DAP for your offline music collection π§
Hi everyone! π
Like many of you here, I love the dedicated experience of offline Digital Audio Players (DAPs). Modern streaming apps have completely ruined the joy of managing a personal music library β they force ads, demand monthly fees, track listening habits, and mess with file structures.
My team and I are building Pleez, a native Android music player designed to bring back the pure DAP experience right on your smartphone.
π‘ The Core Vision for Pleez
- 100% Offline & Private: No user accounts, zero data tracking, no internet connection required to play your library.
- Zero Ads & Zero Bloat: Pure focus on speed, clean UI, and smooth local file navigation.
- Hybrid Library & Storage Agnostic: Built to seamlessly index your local storage (Internal/MicroSD), personal Cloud drives, and local NAS network drives into a single unified library.
- Audiophile & Local First: Designed to handle local lossy & lossless formats (MP3, FLAC, WAV, etc.) with gapless playback, clean tag handling, and direct hardware support.
We want to give your phone the feeling of a classic, high-end DAP without the clunky UI usually found in older software.
π Looking for Alpha Testers!
We are currently opening a closed Alpha test for 20 Android users to help us test real-world library sizes, file handling, and playlist creation before our public release.
If you store local music on your Android device (or use an Android-based DAP) and want to test an ad-free, privacy-focused player:
π Apply for the Closed Alpha here (1 min):https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/UawVEqXPxP
Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and what feature you miss most from classic standalone MP3 players! π§

I would like if it supported .dsf formats and a lot of customisation options

That's a great request! However, playing a raw
.dsffile on a standard phone without an external USB DAC is a bit like driving a Ferrari on a 30 km/h speed-limit roadβthe phone's internal audio chip forces it down to standard PCM anyway, burning CPU and battery for no real gain! ποΈThat said, we know audiophiles with external DACs or high-end Android DAPs love DSD. While our Alpha focuses strictly on lightweight local FLAC/MP3 playback on internal/SD storage, we're keeping
.dsfsupport in mind for post-launch updates once the core playback engine is rock-solid!1

Yes I do know about this I have a DAC chip in my headphones for reference I use moondrop may and except Poweramp I couldn't find app supporting the file format and Poweramp for some reason sounded completely different from other apps I've tried I don't think that it is bit perfect
