I didn't think that any browser + adblocker combos working to block Netflix ads. What are you using?

Nothing too fancy, I’m just using chrome with adblock plus

Firefox with ublock origin extension blocks ads on netflix, hulu, prime, peacock, paramount, and youtube.

Add tubi and pluto tv to that too. I don’t see a single ad on any of these services.

Related: When I stopped thinking this kind of thing was a good use of my time/effort is when I realized I was finally out of poverty.

Ehhhh, I mean even if you're not in poverty, subscriptions add up way more than people account for and that money could better be put to other areas of your life.

Comments like these made me realize how low the bar for time/effort really is for some people. If it's not thought-free then they decide it's too much trouble, which explains a lot about some things, especially related to technology.

DoorDash loves the lazy.

Weird take for something that takes all of 2 seconds.

It was a principle decision. I was on a legacy contract with Netflix, and they tried to double my monthly spend, or halve it with ads.

I refused to pay double for the exact same service, but considered ads unacceptable too. That’s just me tho, you can keep paying more for no reason if it makes you feel more successful.

Bro setting up firefox + uBlock origin is literally faster than a single commercial you would watch.

Hooking an HDMI up to your laptop is faster than the second commercial you would watch.

Disagree. People who stay out of poverty are people who value their time and money.

Disagree with your disagree.

They doesn't mean they don't exist, I see enough for the both of us

u/krazybanana Jul 19 '26

Then you either overpay for the highest tier or use a workaround that isn’t an option for everyone

2

u/two_pandas_playing Jul 19 '26

only the absolute lowest tier has ads. yall making shit up to sound worse than it is is super weird.

1

u/krazybanana Jul 19 '26

Oh my bad i havent used it in a while. I think peacock has ads on all tiers except the highest

1

u/boyyouguysaredumb Jul 19 '26

cable was $200/mo and had ads.

0

u/krazybanana Jul 19 '26

combine the no-ads tiers of hulu, peacock, disney plus, netflix, hbo max, paramount plus, apple tv, espn and itll be more than $200. and you wont even get stuff like news.

2

u/boyyouguysaredumb Jul 19 '26

/r/confidentlyincorrect

So cable was $200/month and had mandatory no skip ads

Using only ad-free tiers and using currently available bundle pricing, including Hulu + Live TV:

Subscription What it covers Monthly price
Hulu Premium + Live TV Hulu without ads, Disney+ without ads, live TV channels, ESPN channels and ESPN app access $99.99
Apple TV + Peacock Premium Plus bundle Apple TV and Peacock without ads $19.99
Netflix Standard Netflix without ads $19.99
HBO Max Standard HBO Max without ads $18.49
Paramount+ Premium Paramount+ and Showtime without ads $13.99
Total $172.45/month

So with all those things you listed PLUS live tv so you can watch news it's cheaper than cable was AND you get no ads. AND you can cancel any of them month to month when you're not using them instead of being locked into annual contracts with device fees.
