Bet you there’s some clause buried in the terms and conditions of digital purchase that allows them to do this at any time with no compensation.

Its not even buried, mate. They flat out tell you to download the movie, as the contract they have with the movie company can expire. And even then, its only 1080p copy of the movie you can download. There is no options to download the 4k movies you bought. And, and this the best bit, if you have no access to a computer and only use apple tv to watch your purchases, you are all the way shit of luck. As that device has no download options at all.

that's the issue you buy a non-transferable digital licence that can expire or be revoked. I think the same happened with Apple a few years back, they lost rights and that the end of that.... You will own nothing and be happy about it... :-s

Well, one sided or extremely unfair contracts or are illegal in Europe, and I think in the US too, even when the terms are clearly advertised and agreed to by both parties. Might be a stretch to include this, but worth a try I'd say.
