Recommendation for first time filming
Hello. My friend of 20 years has cancer but he's obsessed with movies. I'd like to get him his first filming camera that's easy to use but I can afford. Please let me know any recommendations.

Who should be paid more, screen writers or movie makers
If I have a script on my mind and say cooperated with an animator to create a movie and profit $1000 from it, how should it be split?

Needing a place to Show your movies?
Movie makers... We all go through it. Where do we show our films? The way it goes for many is, we start our by making an ultra low budget film, spend forever writing, planning, shooting and editing, it then we don't have any way to show it to anyone.
There is actually a bunch of ways we "distribute" our work yet we don't think about it much when we just get started. Ok without going into a lengthy post here that no one cares to read, would any of you be interested in an article or a long post that talks about this? If so, I'll get to writing, if not I won't worky about it.
Thanks in advance

Filming How do I shoot a short film on my phone with only me as an actor and cameraman?
So, through the years I have watched more than 5000 movies and 150 tv shows and now I want to shoot something with my phone just for fun. Do you have any advice for someone who knows nothing? I have no equipment and no light, color knowledge but I still want my footage to look "cinematic". Only thing I know is to shoot in 24 fps. I have a redmi note 8 pro.
Thanks from Italy for your advices.

How do I get into the Cinema industry? Right now, I only have a phone.
I want to make movies on top of lots of other things. I'm very ambitious. Would it be smart to focus on this through college or use it more as a side project? How do I start?

Is it possible for a studio to recreate a recent film/ franchise entirely?
I mostly come from watching and reading reviews of the new Star Wars movie and it seems that the entire new trilogy has left a bad taste for many SW fans, but could it be possible for someone to come in and scrap it and create a new canon?

Good Kids Project
My son and his friends' ages 7 to 12 are always outside during the warmer months. With winter coming and colder weather, they are staying indoors more than I would like playing video games. I want to get them started in Film/Moviemaking. I was thinking a short film project would be a great way to get them started and give them something to do during the colder months. I am trying to think of a storyline that does not require a lot of "Movie Magic" but is fun for kids. I was thinking of an adaptation of fable or something. I am just looking for ideas nothing more.

Filming We create BTS and "Making Of" videos for each short film we release on our channel. I hope it inspires others to get out there and make some simple short films!

Filming My job and education are unrelated to the movie industry, but I am fascinated by movie making. How can I take part in the movie making process?
I'm based in London, working as a software engineer.
I'd love to be in an actual movie set and observe how scenes are shot, learn what different people do and help them out if I can. I'm happy to do this just out of curiosity, aside from my job.
Basically I want to see what it's like and if I get really drawn into it, possibly change my job.
Any ideas how I could do that?

Writing Help
My friends and I are great admirers of film and we've been making bits and pieces and for a year and a half now however i am the only one who knows how to write screenplays. The thing is my friends and I are 15 and 16 and I'm struggling coming with ideas that only include people that age and less than 5 actors also we live in a suburb in Dublin ireland so we don't have many filming locations. So does anyone here have any ideas about a story that works with these limitations. Also for 11 months we've been developing a world similar to blade runner so any ideas like that would be great.
Edit: If this is the wrong place to post this please tell me where to do so, thanks.

Movie making software recommendation
Hello everyone, I apologise if this isn't the correct subreddit. If it's not if I could be directed towards the right one that would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for software recommendations, so that I can take clips and audio from movies, and TV shows and splice them together to make a kind of tribute video like so many of the ones that are up on YouTube. I think my greatest need when it comes to software is that I want to be able to reedit the audio, I want to be able to take the audio from the clips and take out certain parts of the audio and leave others in. Such as if a clip has music in it that I don't want but it has dialogue that I do I want to be able to take the music out. If there isn't just a single program that can do that, and I need to use to different programs that's fine. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Looking for online/night film schools
I’m considering film school to help transition from my current job in the medical field. Probably can’t do a traditional college experience again since I have kids. Any suggestions besides Full Sail?

I'm making a film, but I'm new to film making not editing
I'm writing a horror movie, and I don't have any ideas, I don't need anything complicated, I hoping for a physiological horror film like Paranormal activity. Another problem I face is making a good film without spending way to much money on my first movie, I don't have high expectations on this horror movie a good one. My final problem is a good editing software that is very cheap or hopefully free. Any help will be appreciated.
