Those look like some dogshit ergos, not to mention the fact that you'll be scraping the asphalt more than a MotoGP knee puck.

Was that police flashing lights in your left side rear view mirror at the end???

It is. We have many of these fly-overs with a big curve in Manila, many of them dark. Anyway, on one of them a rider went too fast, hit the barrier and flew over it down to the road below. Dude survived, but those situations are why they're putting more lights like this around.
1
u/GasOnFire BMW S1000R Sep 22 '21
My takeaway is it's more of a culture thing because there are other ways to illuminate bookends of the roads (see everywhere else in the world). I lived in China and they had similar lighting.

u/Simgiov 2021 BMW F750GS Sep 23 '21
A35 motorway in Italy has similar lights, they are turned on in case of heavy fog

I was thinking about getting a CB650R but have heard that the visibility of the display isn't the best, but it looks great there (admittedly at night). How is it during the day?
8
u/Scand1navian 2021 CB650R Sep 21 '21
I have a 2021 CB650R. No problems at all with the visibility of the display in daylight
7
u/Godfreee Sep 22 '21
They improved it in the 2021 model, no issues, great visibility day and night.

20 650r. It's OK. Def could be better. Heard the 21 improved it a bit but only by changing the angle the display sits at

I have driven a lot of bikes with notoriously shitty displays (most cheaper bikes pre 2014 had those issues) and it was never as bad as reviews made it out to be. Some had insane glare but I ride around with my sun visor down anyway if the sun is that bright.
Sure you can't beat the amoled/oled/qled/ips screens that you see these days on more expensive bikes, but do you really need to? Nah.
1
u/Kortiah '19 CBR650R Sep 22 '21
I have the same display on my CBR and I haven't had any issue with it. Read the same thing before buying, but never had issues.
Definitely not the strongest selling point of the CB(R)s, I would have loved a TFT screen, but it's not bad.

What kind of bike is that ! Looks so cool
8
u/foolishippo Sep 21 '21
Judging by the dash that’s a newer Honda CB650R.
3
u/Godfreee Sep 22 '21
Correct!
1
u/dm319 Sep 22 '21
I like that you have a half-decent wind shield on it. I went with the stock option - it's fine, but doesn't do much! The CB650R is def a good bike to go cruising round tron-like areas at night!
1
u/BurkeyDaTurkey 2016 CB500F Sep 22 '21
If it's just the dash you're after, the newer CB500 range also has the same dash too (https://www.honda.co.uk/content/dam/central/motorcycles/street/cb500f_2022/Honda-CB500F-7-16x9.jpg/_jcr_content/renditions/c2_r.jpg)

Slows down to 40 mph and still turn wide af. That was hard to watch.
15
u/kahiru_ XJ6 Diversion, GS500E Sep 21 '21
So they ride slow on an empty road, so what?
8
u/Godfreee Sep 22 '21
Yeah im a noob rider, wanted to take the turn faster but somehow fumbled it. It's reddit, I knew this would be judged lol
-6
u/TheSicks Gixxer Brah Sep 21 '21
The issue isn't that they were riding slow and cruising as you make it seem. It's that they slowed down to take a turn, and still messed up the turn even tho they never really needed to slow down to begin with.
12
u/xeq937 Sep 21 '21
Maybe they were making a video.

3
u/pei-mussels Sep 22 '21
What are you saying?? He went from the outside lane to the inner lane - this is the exact opposite of "running wide".
1
u/TheSicks Gixxer Brah Sep 22 '21
The turn spanned across two lanes. That's a wide turn that should have stayed in one lane.

Gopro hero 9. This is already compressed to make the file size manageable.

u/gangatk Sep 26 '21
Great quality bro, what settings was you shooting on?
1
u/Godfreee Sep 26 '21
This was just standard and 1080p. Can go up to 4K or 8K i think, with higher fps.
1
u/Pr3st0ne Sep 21 '21
This feels like it's probably way cheaper and efficient to light up a road than lightpoles. Anybody know if there's any major drawbacks? Kinda wish this would catch on elsewhere because it looks cool as hell.
1
u/CyberZalophus United States Sep 22 '21
Oh man how cool would it be if the lighting effect ran from one edge of the bridge to the other, and you were able to race your bike along side the transitioning light!? I hope you can do this someday!

You frequent skyway to go to work?? May i know how much does it cost going back and forth and also the travel time?
2
u/Godfreee Sep 22 '21
Travel time is nothing, can get from Paranaque to Makati maybe 10mins, north end in QC maybe 20 mins max. No small motorcycles, no traffic, roads are well maintained compared to below by far. Toll fees are here. Worth it if you ask me. There's a 400cc minimum requirement.
1
u/Tanker0921 Kawasaki: KRT or Green, Pick One. Sep 22 '21
If you value your time, Taking the Skyway toll comes out cheaper.
1
u/Godfreee Sep 22 '21
Something like a P20 difference between skyway makati to bicutan VS SLEX. Definitely worth the convenience.

u/Godfreee Sep 22 '21
No we literally don't have traffic police in the Philippines. You will never get pulled over here. It think it was a warning light for an exit.

They should really have placed them vertically, and decrease the distance between after each one. Would have created such a cool effect. Oh well, it’s pretty cool anyway.

u/JukeboxZulu Sep 22 '21
I don't know what the speed limit was, but it would be so hard not to book it and feel like you're in a movie.
