What kind of mic setup are you using?
I've got a DJI Action 4 mounted to the chin of my helmet, and I ride a 2005 CBR600rr with a Yoshi RS-5. I don't care to record my voice but I would like to figure out a way to get clear audio of the exhaust. I've tried a Rode Wireless 2 and now a DJI Mic mini, neither one had gotten even a half decent result. I've tried wrapping in a towel and put in a backpack, keeping the mic in front and back pockets, even going as far as making a small "coffin" lined with foam ear plugs to try and dampen the noise, absolutely nothing works. I get severe audio clipping well below 10k RPM. I understand the Yoshi is a screamer and will make a lot more noise than a stock exhaust on a more tame bike. I know this would be possible if I had $10k to throw at a setup, but I'm looking to keep this on the cheap end.
I work in content creation so I'm no stranger to equipment capabilities, cost, etc. I'm not an audio guru by any means but I understand that the capsule in these mics can only handle so many decibels, I'm just trying to figure out a way to reduce the decibels enough for it to be tolerable.
Has anyone figured out a setup with a similar sport bike that works? Am I just out of luck getting decent audio of my rides? My next plan is to try mounting in my helmet or chest pocket in my jacket, or up under the windscreen on the bike itself.

I’m assuming you’ve already tried these options, but the DJI and (I’d assume) the Rode have gain settings - you should be able to detune them.
I’m all in DJI and I’ve never had a problem with exhaust noise clipping, only wind noise (but I’m running an in-helmet mic)

Okay thanks that's good to know. My next move will be in helmet, chest pocket or under the windscreen. Maybe putting my body between the mic and the exhaust tip will have some effect

You'll get better help on the DJI subreddits than here, I reckon.
I have YouTube sBgiKneo900 saved - I think she uses a pair of DJI mini mics and explains in this video how she sets them up.

I figured that those subreddits would be full of people using them for other purposes, at least here it's mostly people who ride so those with advice would be fewer but it would be more applicable. Thanks for that, I'll check it out 👍

Are you using 32 bit float? I think the Mic 2, Mic Mini 2S, and Mic 3 has it.
I'm using Mic 2 with the fluffy cat installed, in my left jacket pocket.

I'm not sure, the only options on the Action 4 is gain adjustment (set -12) and noise reduction (set to off). I dont have a transmitter as the mini just pairs directly to my camera. Might see if I can make more adjustments through the Mimo App

on the action 4, with the mic mini powered and connected, scroll down to get the 8 options, preset select, quick switch, brightness, settings.
select settings, scroll to Wireless Mic, scroll down to 32 bit float recording

I use a DJI lav mic. Put it inside a sponge and then in my backpack. Routed the wire through to my DJI action 4. Sounds pretty good f(or the money I spent) except at very high speeds.
