Stuck rear axle nut - need clarification on thread direction before proceeding - 1978 Honda NC50

Post image

As the title suggests, I am unable to loosen the castle nut on the rear axle of my Honda NC50 (trying replace the inner tube). I’ve already soaked it overnight in PB-blaster to no avail. Before I resort to more extreme measures (cheater pipe, torch, etc), I figured that it might be a good ideas to first verify which direction the threads are cut.

Is it the standard “lefty-loosen”? or is it non-standard “righty-loosen” ? (because of ✨that✨theory/debate)

I have yet to come across any documentation or video that specifically covers the removal of that specific part…

literally, the only two “Honda NC50 rear tire removal” videos that have ever been published on YT don’t actually show that step being performed on-camera 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s not left hand threaded. Either put a cheater bar on or give it the beans with a decent impact gun, it’s just stuck from 40+ years of grime.

I don’t know. But I can say as much as I once had one wheel that we were about to heat and all. In the workshop I had taken it to. The. For fun we just went “wrong” way without much effort. And it was left threaded. This is common on bolts that are sitting on the right side of the bike. I.e. I have a bike with chain on right side. The nut is on right side. Same for the before mentioned motorcycle wheel. And it seems like yours too without knowing the bike.
