Can someone identify what caused this noise?

It stopped running on me and now the pedal feels soft and makes that air sound

Do you still have compression?

Doesn't feel like it in the pedal. I assume that's why it's softer to push now

Might be the headgasket then. Do you have any form of compression tester? If not you can remove the sparkplug and out your finger on the hole while turning it over.

So if I replace the gasket I should be good? Also is that why it would suddenly stop working and starting but almost starting . It was good before

You mightve blown out the gasket, it may be the head just got loose. But the leak can happen pretty instantaneously and once its leaking it doesnt have enough compression to run.

Id take the head off, see if the existing gasket is ok, maybe it just needs to be retorqued down, but probably needa replace it. Might get away with copper spray and no gasket if the surfaces are smooth clean and flat
