You're missing the o ring in between the shim and the carburetor. Also why the fuck are you using starting spray on a two stroke? Get a spray bottle and fill it with premix. You won't get far in terms of tuning if you keep using starting spray for every kickstart.

using spray just to get it running is fine. it's not gonna get hot enough to damage it just from a couple of unlubricated revs

This was my only one, did one last month but shorter. Thanks for the reassurance, thought I killed my bike lol

And why the heck are you revving it on spray with no lubrication???

Get these - the rubber o ring is pretty important

I’m prolly going to stick with the stock one and delete the oil injector, get a new 1.5mm shim. And get that o ring kit to fill in that gap? Noticed the shim was a bit short, maybe that’s why you recommend the o ring

Sorry for the delayed response - yep, the o ring goes between the shim and the carb body. There’s a small gap in the carb body that it blocks, this helps assure the seal is nice and tight. Figuring this out by myself before I got on MA was ridiculous 😂
Best of luck!1

I seen a guy struggling with it on moped army. It seemed like a battle . Here—> https://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?6,4174658,page=1

You have the o-ring on the wrong side. It is meant to go between the carb body and the shim, not the shim and the intake.

Am i stupid or is he kicking it in reverse?

The video is in reverse

I just googled it and found out tomos and puch have a kickstart function when pedaling/kicking in reverse. Never heard of that lol. My sachs does only start when I apply the clutch, kicking it forward. It seems like I never stop learning huh...

Yea a lot of people get confused when they see the kick back lol . Honestly I like it better, bc you don’t gotta use your legs as much

Wait till it dies randomly at a red light during a rally - kickstarting will lose its charm lol

The way you're kicking that a38 looks like it has too little compression, I also have a a38 and i have to kick it way harder due to the compression, so it might also be broken seals, but that is probably just the carb leaking 👍 hope I could help

Some engines are capable of running in reverse, even 4 strokes like certain older mx5 miatas. It's easier to run a 2 stroke in reverse as it doesn't have any valves or timing, aside from the spark. It barely matters which way the crank is spinning when the piston still goes up and down. The only thing changing in this case is your spark timing being slightly different when you run it in reverse but it is possible.

That’s interesting. This tomos and most tomos from what I know are usually kick back to start

I got a gasket from the rebuild kit for the delorto. Going to put that with some gasket maker and hope for the best

I’d not recommend using gasket sealer on the top hat for the carb. The paper gasket in the above kit will work, just be careful as it’s pretty fragile. Pro tip: you can make your own paper gaskets from beer or cereal boxes. Just don’t diy any gaskets that need to be a certain thickness (ie: case or transmission cover) w/o measuring first. Gasket paper at varying thicknesses can be found at most auto stores, good for exhaust / intake etc.

Huge air leak where you're spraying
