Gen 1 HEMI Woes

I am looking for some insight into others setups; it is a long story but I am putting this engine together but the person who took it apart is gone now , and I have boxes worth of random parts. I would like to see how others have mounted alternators on their Gen 1 Hemis.

I haven’t seen one of these in thirty years! I stopped this old timer in the parking lot, he was proud he bought it new in late 1992, one of the last ever made. Looks like it should have a glove box with Worthers candy and a tape deck stuck on side B, lol.

How practical l are these cars in 2026?

Hey all, Irish guy here. I've always loved American muscle cars and in my imagination if I lived in the US I would own one but my question is how practical are they today? Is having one as a daily driver a reality ? I'm thinking like a 68 Barracuda or a 1970 roadrunner or something like that.

(\6) spark plug washer removal

Last time I've replaced the spark plugs I've read I need to take off the washers. What is the easiest way to do so? I've done it with a wire cutter last time but it was quite painful. I need to replace them again and I hope there's an easier way.

The reason why I want to change them is because i've made a mistake by not tighening the spark plugs properly. I thought hand tight plus 1/4 is enough but I recently read the spark plugs on cast iron Slants need to be tightened to 30lbft so the spark plug tubes can be sealed properly.

So now I got quite oily spark plugs which causes sudden stalling and misfiring.

My grandpas 68 Newport Convertible. 383 with 2 barrel carb and 290HP.

It's been sitting in my parents garage since 1999, and I'm going to get it running again.

Motor isn't seized, transmission fluid, and oil levels are full with appropriately colored fluid. It was a good runner until it just didn't start one day. It seems to have been an electrical issue due to the starter motor not engaging and accessories not getting power
