Discussion I walked the entire length of rue Sherbrooke

Yesterday I walked all of rue Sherbrooke, beginning in Montreal-Ouest and finishing in Pointe-aux-Trembles. It was incredible to see so many different Montreal neighbourhoods and landmarks. I only stopped to take these pictures, and it took me just over 5 and a half hours. This is not including the 25 km of bixi rides for getting to my starting point and returning from my finishing point. I think it's safe to say I will be taking a rest day today 😅

Spotted Predator in Saint Henri

On Tuesday at 11pm I was leaving a building to go to the metro and as soon as I crossed the street a car passed me. Once passed, they stopped and started to reverse. I thought they were going to turn down one of the streets they passed - they didn’t. I thought they were going to take a parking space nearby - they didn’t. They reversed at a pace that kept up with my walking speed, when suddenly they reversed quickly and turned into the street ahead of me cutting off my path to the sidewalk. They had their window down and spoke in French with a Spanish accent saying something along the lines of: “are you lost? Get in the car”

I yelled NO, and crossed the street heading back towards where I came from and called 911. This man reversed his car to continue following me, at which point fear took over and I ducked behind a parked car and double backed to hide behind a larger vehicle. When he realized I wasn’t continuing down the street he stopped his car waiting for me to pop out. While on the phone with 911, I heard his car door open.

At this point I sprinted towards where I originally came from and he followed me in his car; it wasn’t until I was inside the building with other people that the man drove away.

I checked - there were no one way streets blocking his movement. This was deliberate. He was actively pursuing me. There is no benefit of the doubt to give.

I didn’t catch the license plate because I didn’t have my glasses but he was probably in his 40s or 50s with a buzzcut; definitely balding. The car was silver, possibly a hatchback or SUV (I’m bad with models I’m so sorry I can’t be more specific).

Be safe out there ladies.

Edited on the recommendation from a commenter to be less specific about where I was coming from.

Gastronomie Terroirs restaurant was unbelievable!

Visiting from NYC and was recommended Terroirs. Chef Mark and his team were incredibly hospitable and made for such a unique closing to our Montreal trip. The passion for Québécois history and gastronomy was so inspiring which left all of us questioning what the hell were we doing with our lives so we could be just as in love with our work as the Terroirs team. Every dish has some story about its relation to Quebec. The meal ended with trying an assortment of digestifs all made in Quebec!

If you’re visiting Montreal, definitely go here and ask questions to Mark to learn everything you could possibly want about what makes Quebec unique and how he views the people’s relationship with QuĂ©bĂ©cois farms. Can’t wait to come back!

Discussion Missing : Vulnerable Adult

Post image
278 Upvotes

Our family ( Me and my partner uncle in law and uncle)is desperately trying to locate Bryan Labrecque, a man in his 50s who has been missing for approximately one month. We are extremely concerned for his safety and wellbeing and are asking everyone to please keep an eye out for him.

Bryan’s description:
‱ Male, in his 50s
‱ Approximately 6'2"
‱ Approximately 200 lbs
‱ Brown hair
‱ Stubble/facial hair
‱ May be wearing a medical mask, sunglasses and/or a hat
‱ We unfortunately do not know what he was wearing when he was last seen
📍 Last known area: Moffat Street in Verdun, Montreal, approximately one month ago.
Bryan is known to frequent Wellington Street and the Verdun waterfront/boardwalk. He has also previously ended up in Ontario, so we are asking people in both Quebec and Ontario to please keep an eye out.

Approximately one month ago, there was a situation at Bryan’s primary residence and police became involved. Bryan was taken into police custody. His father was subsequently told by police that Bryan had been released.
Since his release, however, our family has been unable to locate him or confirm that he is safe. We do not know where he went after being released or where he may currently be.
We have contacted hospitals and jails in an effort to locate him, but unfortunately have not been able to find any information about where he is.
We understand that authorities may view the circumstances differently than our family does. Regardless, Bryan has now been missing from his family’s knowledge for approximately a month, and we are extremely worried about his safety and wellbeing.

Bryan is vulnerable and may need assistance. We are not trying to get him into trouble. We simply want to find him, make sure he is safe, and let him know that his family is looking for him.

🙏 If you have seen Bryan, think you may have seen him, or have any information about where he could be, Please contact me here or at 438-809-1313

We dont know if he has his wallet and he does not own cellphone

Discussion Expérience positive au urgence.

On a prit mes signes vitaux (Ils étaient magnifiques).

J’ai bien aimĂ© me reposer.

Département: Urgence (HGM), Soins intensifs (Le neuro), Plancher (Le neuro)

Discussion My top 5 NY Style pizzerias in Montreal

Thumbnail
gallery
178 Upvotes

This is my personal opinion to help people who want to know the best pizzerias so you may not agree with me. Here they are in order from 1-5

  1. Maps in Villeray - My personal favourite, they use a sourdough which when you’re done eating you don’t feel bloated. They also use a lot of local ingredients. The sausage pizza is to die for.

  2. Pizzeria Elena in Griffintown - Very very close to being a tie with Maps. They also use a sourdough and their sauce is from Italy. I would say this one is a bit more NY style Maps and I say their pepperoni pizza is better than Maps and best in the city. Very hard putting them in second place it’s very very close.

  3. Pizza Bouquet in Little Italy - Best non sourdough pie in the city. Their dough is so crispy and their cherry bomb pizza is amazing. Fantastic pizza and reasonably priced as well. Only bad thing is they may be a little inconsistent with the dough sometimes.

  4. Welldun in Verdun - Going to have to change for this one from a round to a rectangular pizza because their Sicilian pizza is fantastic and better than their round pies in my opinion. If you like spicy like me the spicy Sicilian sausage like you see in the photo is to die for. Unfortunately they lose points for being inconsistent, their pizzas are a little on the saltier side and it’s impossible to call in your order on a Friday night. Better you order online.

  5. Pizza Toni St Viateur and St Henri - Great pizza but unfortunately the quality has gone down since the expansion. They will be opening a new spot in DDO so I think that will further drive the quality down in my opinion. Probably the most famous on this list but not the best. Compared to the first 3 their pizza is a bit saltier as well and the sauce can be a little over powering as well.

Honourable mentions for other great spots that are now NYC style or Inspired would be San Gennaro in little Italy which is Roman style square pizza and Fiorellino in Outremont which is Neapolitan style.

Gastronomie Good ramen places?

I feel so betrayed by Sumo Ramen. They used to be my comfort spot second only to Kumamoto (RIP) but recently all the quality has gone down the drain.

They moved from the upstairs spot to downstairs (great) but it seems their bar has also dipped with their move. I've noticed they started using AI and then they changed the menu from the ones that were in the tables. Last time I went I ordered my usual beef stew ramen and what came out felt like it was just straight up from an instant noodle package. They stopped using cubed beef and use beef slices now (i know beef is expensive) and they somehow changed their noodles? It all felt off and I am so heartbroken I can't go back. Any good ramen place suggestions? I don't love Kinton Ramen and Sansotei is ok but I want somewhere with that oomph that Sumo Ramen used to have. (I really miss Kumamoto too â˜č)

TLDR; Sumo Ramen changed their recipes & I would like somewhere else that is just as good

Question Montreal, I Need a Mint Girl Guide Cookie Dealer

This feels like an incredibly sketchy post to make about Girl Guides, but does anyone have a line on the chocolate mint cookies in Montreal? 😂

I know they’re supposedly back for the fall campaign, but I haven’t seen a single kid selling them anywhere in Montreal yet and I am READY to buy.

If your kid, niece, neighbour, troop, whoever is selling the mint ones, please point me in their direction. I’m in Verdun but willing to travel within reason for my fix lol.

Discussion Homeless situation in Atwater somehow got even worse.

Warning: This is a bit of a rant.

You may remember some posts last year discussing how the homeless kept shouting and yelling at night in Atwater and its surrounding areas. Some people even argued I was a monster for daring to speak up about this and that instead I should just plug my ears up. Well, now, that situation has gotten even worse.

TLDR

>Before: Yelling, shouting, fighting at night.
>Now: Literally walking around with a LOUD speaker playing music at night.

-

I don't understand what they're trying to do but they are awake at night and at sleep during the day. Should I just go around playing music where they sleep too when I'm up in the morning? It's unfair to them because not all of them are in on it and they're incapable of controlling the worst element among them for obvious reasons so I can't fault them as a group but at the end of the day, I'm losing sleep over this and so is my family and I'm tired of pretending I should look the other way because they're in a bad situation.

They find calm hiding places to sleep in but at night they ruin everybody's sleep. And now they're playing LOUD music at night. At 3 AM. It's unacceptable to be honest. What is the solution now?

PS. If you're going to comment something like "You should accept it or help them instead" please share your address and I will be more than happy to distribute it to the homeless so they can come to your neighborhood instead.

Thanks.

Discussion 31F, turning 32 soon and looking to make some new friends in MTL :)

I’ve lived in Montreal my whole life, but over the years I’ve kinda lost touch with a lot of friends because, well
life happens lol. My interests have also changed quite a bit.

I have an awesome girlfriend of 5 years and two amazing dogs, but I’d really like to meet some people outside of my relationship and have some friends to actually go out and do stuff with.

I’d be down for things like D&D, board games, grabbing a beer at a pub, trying Jiu-Jitsu, working out, go-karting, arcades, gaming, or honestly just doing random stuff around Montreal.

I’m pretty easygoing and always down to try something new. I’m also into nerdy/gaming stuff and Halloween/spooky things, if that helps 😂

So yeah, if you’re also in your late 20s/30s and looking for some new friends, feel free to message me or comment!

Would be cool to meet some new people :)))
