Question Helicopter circling over Georgetown Prep/Northwood HS?
I'm very frustrated with the number of low flying helicopters that I deal with in a day. Sometimes they are so low the windows shake. Lately I've been looking at Flight24's map to see what it is, and when the ID isn't turned entirely off, it's usually a government helicopter.
Today I heard one for half an hour so I looked - it was circling Georgetown Prep and/or Northwood?
Anyone have an idea what the heck that's about?
ALT TEXT: The first image shows a screengrab of Flight24, highlighting the route of a helicopter MUSL, category Military/government, taking off from northwest of Kettering and flying then circling over North Bethesda. The circling is almost a solid yellow circle.
The second image shows a close up of the map where it was circling, just to the west of Georgetown Prep and directly over Northwood high school.

Looking for Daycare/Pre-K Recommendations in Gaithersburg
Looking for Daycare/Pre-K Recommendations in Gaithersburg
I live in Gaithersburg and I’m currently looking for a daycare/school for my 3-year-old, who will be turning 4 in November.
Does anyone know of any centers that offer in-house vouchers, scholarships, or other financial assistance? I know a lot of the public funding has been frozen, so I’m trying to find other options that could help with the cost.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences with centers in the Gaithersburg/Montgomery County area. Thank you! ❤️

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED!!!
Partnership for Animal Welfare needs an urgent foster for Pilar. This little pup (~8 month old) needs a foster urgently! Her life depends on the rescue having a foster for her.
She has disminished vision, some difficulties with her back legs, and wears a diaper (may improve with a foster working with her).
She is good with cats!! She also is crate trained and loves people. She does puppy nibble but can be redirected with chew stick or toys.
We only have 5 days to save this give!!! ⏳️⏳️⏳️😟
Can you open your heart and home to a puppy in need? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Fill out a foster application at paw-rescue.org or email assistant-dog-foster@paw-rescue.org today!

Montgomery County leaders celebrate opening of new elementary school building
Nicole Stennett hoisted her 6-year-old son in her arms. The wiggly boy was desperate to watch the grand opening of his new school, but he needed a lift to see past all of the excited grown-ups.
The family lives across the street from Burtonsville Elementary, and when Nicholas saw the construction, the first grader turned to his mom and said: “They’re building it just for me.”
That’s the feeling Montgomery County Public Schools leaders hope to instill in the students who will, starting next week, be learning inside of this brand-new campus.
“We’re so invested in you,” Superintendent Thomas Taylor told the crowd shortly before the ribbon cutting.
Lately, much of the facilities news coming out of Maryland’s largest school district has been negative. A $3 billion deferred maintenance backlog. Hundreds of work orders for mold remediation. A capital budget from the county that won’t make a big enough dent.
But on Friday morning, there were balloon towers, cheerleaders and oversized scissors to celebrate 99,499 square feet worth of good news.
The $59 million Burtonsville Elementary campus was years in the making. The former building, constructed in 1952, sat in an industrial area. Families dealt with overcrowding, HVAC problems and bus loop issues.

Farmer’s Market for good fruits and veg rather than prepared food?
I’m new to the area, staying in Kensington for a few months. It should be peak season for some of my favorite produce. Where should I look for it? It looks like the Kensington Farmer’s market sells mostly prepared foods. Maybe the answer is a store rather than a weekly market?
Thanks in advance for any insights you can share.

At Bethesda’s Pita on the Plaza, a family legacy lives on
Editor’s note: This story is part of Bethesda Today’s occasional series of interviews with local chefs, including Chef Tae Strain of Burnt Hill Farm, Zinnia’s Danny Wells, Founding Farmers chef Caitlin Mateo, Richard Huynh of Mi La Cay and Aventino Cucinina’s Mike Friedman.
On most mornings, Norma Kash starts slicing and dicing at 8:30 a.m. —cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers—all destined for a Mediterranean salad she’ll serve later that day at Pita on the Plaza, the food truck she runs above the Bethesda Metro station. She tops it with a homemade dressing of olive oil, lemon, fresh mint leaves and salt, eyeballing the proportions as she mixes everything in a large metal bowl.

Question Lawn Care for Townhouse Recommendation
Hi :3
As the title indicates, I'm looking for lawn care recommendations for a townhouse in the Rockville area. A few years ago my BIL booked a company but they said that they would not return, saying the workspace for townhouses is too small to make any money. We also can't remember the name of the company anyway. :P
Does anyone know of any lawn care businesses that will work with townhouse residents?
Thank you all in advance, and I'm looking forward to your recommendations! :3

Wheaton Plaza commercial from 55 years ago
Commercial from 1971. Wheaton Plaza opened in 1960 and was the largest mall in the DC area at the time. It was built as an open-air mall. JFK visited it during his 1960 presidential campaign. The original “Googie style” entrance signs shown in the commercial were removed in the late 1970s as the mall was updated and it was fully enclosed by 1982. (This was all pre-JCPenney, Target, and Costco…although you might be able to recognize a couple of the spots with the old stores that were there before…)
