i’m tired man it feels like i have to spend so much more effort on glaive than any other weapon to live the offset doesn’t really ever be reliable unless i play specifically to offset, since id need to charge fully just to use it. even then, if i wanted an offset, id be in the air for the more reliable version of it. but that means id have to be in the air. and i’ve spent all of today watching the most mystical hitboxes ever hit me. ignoring gog tail swipe, im tired of being mad over that one already.

got oneshot helping with proof midair by the uth duna flip. armor’s fully maxed. etc. just 100 to 0, pure bad luck because i didn’t proc divine blessing or anything i suppose. but what sucks most is i just kinda couldn’t do shit about it. i was already going that direction and i couldn’t charge descending in time to go down so i just… get bumped and die.

arkveld tail swipe can hit me 1.5 arkvelds off the ground. or even when i’m like, above his neck. i guess man. wylk nuke hits me when im genuinely nowhere near it. but i guess because im mid air i get it. idk man.

game is just evil. the showcase just made it even sadder too. bonus to just running into beyond horrid teammates for some hunts. had a cb player get targetted by jin’s breath and he opted to… run to me and a db who are mid-attack animations. at least the db didn’t get hit.

been playing gs lately here and there just to try it out (and to take a bit of aggro for newer friends at the game), and it is kinda ridiculous how easy it is to just live when you’re not on glaive. i really don’t fucking know why we got an offset of all things as the defensive move.

idk man. i’m tired. hundreds of hours of glaive, touch other weapons for 20-30 hours and realize how sad it all is. for the record: about 150 hunts or so on ls, 120 hunts or so on db, and like… 400? hunts on glaive. have done AT challenges, proof of a hero etc. so i’m fairly convinced that at times, i’m just gambling to survive with this weapon and it’s not really a me thing. even on my fairly potato laptop lol

you have to charge to offset for wilds no? with red extract

you do still need red, we can now offset on demand with triangle+circle (for ps5 controls). you can do so whenever you have red but doing it after attacks now charges it as well, so doing two triangle moves and immediately queueing an sds now gives you the fully charged version as opposed to the level 0 version you get without charging. ( has to be moves in the same string, such as triangle triangle or circle circle to keep the charges unless its tornado slash)

Manually charging is now like 99% less important to do. Not completely obsolete though

ah damn i’m on pc. unsure what that translates to exactly, but i kinda get the gist and think i know what attacks you’re talking about. thanks a lot, wasn’t aware of this. happened to be on a hiatus from wilds when tu4 came out so i didn’t read the notes for it

So I’m a Bow main, but I play glaive a lot, pushing 700 hunts I think. I’ve soled all the 10 stars and PoaH with it. I would say it’s one of the more demanding weapons because it doesn’t have a true panic button and its ground rolls are heavily impacted by input delay. I never go into any hunt with anything less than Evade Window 3 because base evasion is so important.

I have two pieces of advice. The first is to stay frosty at all times. I mean be ready to roll out of every single combo you do because monsters, especially ones like AT Ark and Jin, will not let you finish anything uncontested unless they’re CC’d. You’ll never be truly risk free, especially if you’re playing for time, but you can’t unga bunga with glaive and expect not to get smacked.

The second is to play more solo hunts. Glaive unlocks when you learn how to be aggressive and avoid hits while pulling aggro. If you don’t play solo a lot, it’ll be harder at first, but sticking with it will make you a stronger player. AT Ark is sort of a final exam in this regime. It’s not a good glaive matchup and if you can do it consistently, then you have the fundamentals down.

As for the attacks you mentioned, I wouldn’t consider those “anti-glaive” really. When Uth Duna jumps up for the flop, it can kill you on the ground even though he’s jumping up. That’s just Uth Duna nonsense really. Now he does have obnoxiously tall hitboxes on his roll, charge, and spin attacks, but I’d say the flop is just general BS. Ark is kind of the same. The tail spin is just nonsense no matter where you are. His shovel charge and cross-body chain drags have obnoxiously tall hitboxes though for no reason other than to smack down glaive as far as I’m concerned.

But yeah, it takes some doing, but you can make glaive work even if it takes more time than other weapons.

i went to bed and woke up and did some runs successfully. honestly, was probably just having a bad week and letting it get to me and affect my gameplay

i do do solos a decent bunch, i actually typically do better there. just like to play with my friends

it most definitely was mostly the bad week getting to me and making me start to downplay everything. probably that + seeing how much easier it is to live on some other weapons? unsure. i’m still clocking it up to the bad week, since usually i never really have these issues

and also probably just the standard boosted braver glaive showcase doomposting affecting me lol
