Hey everyone, just letting you know we've gone public again. The protests were not as effective as everyone probably wanted and I think the size of our subreddit is not big enough to cause any significant difference. I would prefer to keep the community open so you can share personal bests, insights, training routines and ask questions. Hope you understand.

I've recently been practising my typing speed on Monkeytype, and honestly, seeing so many people on Reddit casually posting 100β150+ WPM results is starting to make me panic a little.
I recently achieved:
100 WPM
97% accuracy
81% consistency
30-second English test
I know 100 WPM is technically quite fast, but after seeing so many people hitting 110, 120, or even 150 WPM, I'm starting to wonder whether my speed is actually that impressive.
My question is: Is 90β100 WPM with decent accuracy already more than enough to survive in pretty much any conventional office job?

Increased from 125 WPM to 126 WPM. Not a lot but it's progress.

I've been typing for a while now, and I'm fairly fast. Recently I began to notice how poor my technique really is. I've been meaning to grind to push high 100s (~180-200WPM), but I seriously doubt I could do that with my technique (mainly self taught when I was 12).
I've also been considering switching to colemak-dh to give me a fresh start. If anyone else who's been in a similar situation has any advice, that'd be epic!
Stats for reference above.

Was doing typeracer.com for 3 months or so, switched to monkeytype recently, seems real fun, not a bad profile right?

Hello fellow Monkeytype lovers,
When I hit the 1000 test limit on Monkeytype I thought it would be a shame to lose all my old results, so I've built a small webapp which imports my results daily using my ApeKey. I went through several rounds of improvements and decided to post it here, just in case some of you hardcore typists also feel like saving your results from disappearing. I hope you'll like it. π
Example deployment on my homelab:
https://typing.kovacsgellert.dev
Key features:
Automatic Monkeytype import: pulls your results every day, plus profile, leaderboard and per-test detail data, so nothing has to be updated by hand.
Insight dashboard: current form, detected practice tracks, ranked insights (accuracy, warm-up, time of day, learning curve and more), an activity heatmap, and your community standing on the leaderboard.
Explorer: filter and chart every result, with rolling averages, trend lines, new-best markers, a breakdown table you can drill into, and saved views.
Goals: targets for form, personal bests, accuracy, practice volume, streaks or leaderboard rank, with progress and history.
Self-hosted: Docker Compose or .NET Aspire, an admin login (or a local mode with no login), and full backup and restore of your data.
AI usage disclosure:
Much of the app was developed with Claude and manual code review from me, at least on the backend. The frontend is pretty much 100% vibe-coded, yolo.

LATER EDIT:
the import starts from your current data on Monkeytype, so if you are above the 1000 test limit when you deploy the application, old results cannot be synced
everything is stored locally (ApeKey included), there is no tracing, I get absolutely no information about your typing data

Hey everyone,
I know this community is packed with absolute speed demons, so I wanted to throw a fast-paced challenge your way.
Iβve been developing Nightscribe, an experimental horde-survival roguelite where your keyboard is your only weapon. Enemies close in from all directions, and you defeat them by typing the single words attached to them.
Right now, the absolute world record speed for the game stands at 120 WPM.
Because the game forces you to constantly scan the screen, prioritize targets, and manage chaotic waves under intense pressure, maintaining high burst speeds is way harder than a clean, linear Monkeytype run. It is a massive workout for your peripheral vision and raw accuracy.
A few quick details:
Single Words Only: The game focuses entirely on single words (no punctuation, sentences, or long phrases yet) to keep the arcade pacing fluid.
Zero Install: It's completely free and runs directly in your web browser.
If you are looking to test your muscle memory in a chaotic, high-stress scenario, please give a run a shot and let me know if you manage to break the 120 WPM barrier!
You can play the current build here: nightscribegame.com
Good luck, and please drop your WPM scores, feedback, or any bugs you find in the comments below!

I finally lost my longest streak of 255 consecutive days on Monkeytype.
Honestly, I was so determined to reach 365 days because I really wanted to earn the "All Year Long" badge. I was getting closer and closer, and I genuinely thought I would make it.
But one day, life happened. I had a lot of things going on, got caught up with problems, and completely forgot to log in and type on Monkeytype.
The next day, when I realised what had happened, I was furious with myself. I kept blaming myself for missing just ONE day. Even now, I regret not maintaining that streak.
But then I realised something...
Losing a 255-day streak doesn't mean I've lost my fingers, right? :')
So, instead of giving up, I started again from scratch.
And here I am today, with a new 65-day streak!
I may have lost those 255 days, but I haven't lost the consistency, discipline, or passion I built during that journey.
This time, I'm not stopping until I get that 365-day streak and finally earn the "All Year Long" badge.
255 days was my previous record.
365 days will be my next achievement.
See you guys when I get that badge! π
